To military married men?

Question

What percentage of married military men cheat on their wives? With always being gone, etc. I have been married to one for 11 years and recently caught him in an affair and after the affair came to light, everyone who knew told me they wouldnt doubt it if he did this our whole marriage cuz of all the time he's spent away from home. I just wonder if the percentage is high. They kind of stereotyped him with the old saying: A marine has a girl at every port...or however that sayng goes. any insight on this? Oh and do you think its possible for a man to spend 18 months in Iraq and NOT ONCE indulge himself? He says he never did, I say yah right. NO MAN CAN GO 18 months without it. And there are women over there, and there is 'down time', i know there is, i know way too many people who have been there and many of them men and boy oh boy do they have tales to tell. So what do ya think?

well considering that he's done it once. id say that it's possible that it's been happening for a while. i mean maybe it didnt start right away, but then he couldnt take it anymore. thats awful to think that. i mean we stay true to our men as they are gone. so why can't they simply do the same. i know that my marine better not do that. i dont think i could handle that.

Well being a former active duty Military guy i dont know statistics but some do just like some wives have theirs when the husbands are gone. Me and my wife seperated alot when i was active but i knew what was waiting when i got back so i keep it in my pants. I think if u caught him before maybe he learned that he doesnt want to lose u so he will stay faithful or maybe he wont care and will continue his ways, hope its the first of the two. And u say no man can go 18 months what if we said no woman can go 18 months thats not right. I knew guys that got caught in affairs and learned from it some stayed together others fell apart. I think overall its your decision what u wanna do, and if u are having thoughts that he is doing that over there maybe you need to talk to someone. Hope things work out for the best. It just depends on the person. Not all military men (or women) cheat.

Your husband was very weak and selfish. He didn't consider you (his wife) waiting back home, but instead indulged in mindless and lustful sex.

As for Iraq, I don't think they have too much opportunity to have sex over there, unless it's with a fellow Military woman (or man, if they're gay.)

I think most cheating happens when they go to countries such as, Japan, Germany, Russia...ect.

But anyway, just keep your head up.

I definitely wouldn't remain married to this man. Whatever you decision is, make sure you feel good about it.

im not a military man, nor do i have statistics can only tell u about the few i know of..

My father, retired military did 2 years in Viet Nam, and never once cheated on my mother.. my father is all about morals, values, family and church, and believes in his marital vows and lives by them every day not just when its convient..

My step father, is retired military and he's the same way never cheated on his x wife , or my mother.

My x husband, did cheat after 5 years of being married and he is active duty military..

I dont think all military men cheat and i do believe that men dont need to cheat just because they are away from home for long periods of time, they can take care of those things themselves.. but i do think it depends on the man.. and if he is an actual man of honor then he would never cheat on his wife and would rather leave before ever cheating on her.. your married to a little boy trapped in a mans body just like i was.. its not the military, its the character of the man that fails, he obviously didnt keep to his marriage vows, and to him his vows are only something he needs when it is convient to him instead of realizing its a promise he made to u, to uphold every day for the rest of his life..

i am in the Army, I have never cheated on my wife. But I know she cheated on me while I was deployed in 2004 and then after we had out son in 2006. now i am deployed again and she is doing it again. This time we are getting a divorce and she plans to move in with him shortly after it is final. so it is not just the men but the person that has no moral values that does it

It's just depends on how you feel. I understand you feel like your hubby betrayed you, and you being upset, but, do you or do you want to believe what he says or you just want to believe what others say. I think you are facing with "trust" issue. Do you and your hubby want to gain all the trust back together no matter what? HE SPENDS 18 MONTHS IN IRAQ, YOU STAY HOME WORRIED, PROBABLY CRYING A LOT TOO, CONCERNED, AND CAN'T WAIT FOR HIM TO COME HOME SAFE, AND HE GETS BACK, HAS AN AFFAIR, ISN'T CONCERENED ABOUT THE HELL YOU LIVED THROUGH WHILE HE WAS GONE........I WOULDN'T LET IT BOTHER ME, IF HE DID OR DIDN'T DO ANYTHING ELSE....IT CAN ONLY BRING MORE PAIN...... Its about right.I know a few couples whos husband cheated on them when they go to ports and stuff.Sad but true.Not all do that,but the % is high.

PLENTY of women are doing the same...they're lonely , bored etc...

men get the bad wrap...only men cheat...

i'll have you know that on Coast Guard Cutters and Naval Ships..the women's head (bathroom) is as polluted with porn as the guys is.....so it isn't as though men are the ONLY pigs and are desperate for some action...

but as is normal...men are the only culprits...right?
