Does Bush think he's 'The Decider' in this 1400 year old battle??

I just can't believe the cajones on this guy!

First off the notion that this is a 1400 year old "battle" is PURE FICTION. The Sunni and Shiia have NEVER had a "war" or "battle" over their religious positions...until now. They have in fact lived quite peacefully side by side for those 1400 years (just like there are Jews that live in Iran and have been for 3000 years) and argued over who the heir to Mohammad is...not the basic tenets of Islam. This is western revisionist history tailored to the "needs" (a civil war) of the USA. Saddam was SECULAR (non-religious) and he killed Sunni and Shiia equally and he was OUR buddy.

Why is the USA taking sides? Because our good (and seriously repressive) "friends" Saudi Arabia are Sunni and our supposed enemy Iran is Shiia. It is simply one more example of BAD US foreign policy based on ignorance and arrogance.

First of all, the Sunnis and Shia haven't been battling for 1400 years. In fact, since the break 1400 years ago, the Muslim world has been unified, living in community, virtually the entire time. In fact, they are still undivided on these lines in most of the muslim world.

In Iraq, many Shia are battling Shia and many Sunni are battling Sunni, in addition to Sunni and Shia battling each other. Religion is merely the rallying point for the various militias who are killing each other in order to take power in Iraq.

May I suggest http://english.aljazeera.net/English? This is a very unusual news organization from an American point of view - they actually try to be fair and balanced, something utterly unheard of in our corporate media which is shilling for Bush (not just Fox News, but all the networks) and the blogosphere which fights back by promoting their own sides only.

Bush is no idiot, tho. He has intentionally caused this chaos because he wants to hide his massive theft of our treasure (12 billion cash missing in Iraq, you know), his arming of someone (190,000 AK-47s and sidearms which we shipped to Iraq are utterly missing, no serial number data available, oops), and to have more excuses to clamp down on civil liberties here.

Halliburton - Cheney still makes money from them and they have made billions in no-bid contracts off Bush's mass murder and torture fest. Oh yeah, he likes killing, too.

He's a truly sick puppy and we, usa and all the world, are paying the price for the complacency of the american people.

Oil. Cheaper payouts to one or the other. The distinction is about as ridiculous as Catholic and Protestant. Who is more enticed by the dollar? Simple. In fact, the USA could spend the $480 billion scheduled for Iraq in bribe payouts, instead of through the Pentagon budget, and accomplish FAR MORE. It's about money. Only the patriotoc, and self deluded soldiers suffer. GWB would give them a nod if he gave a damn. Don't you send your kids there.

The US government does not take sides. Thats why the Coalition Provisional authority (CPA) helped to construct an Iraqi political system based on proportional representation (PR). The Iraqi Coalition government headed by al Maliki is going nowhere fast (both sides are not willing to sacrifice for a common policy interest) and the US government (the military) is suffering as a result.

Well, they've kinda sided with both sides, helping return the Shias to power, then arming & enabling Sunni lynch mobs.

1.It does not matter you are sunni or shia it is important that you are muslim or at least a good person
2.Shia in arabic means party (like political party). Before the death of Muhammad people used to call the close friends of Ali (cousin of muhammad) Shia.
3.Right after the death of Muhammad while Ali were busy with funeral, Abu bakr and omar and 4 other sahaba were busy with who gets the power after muhammad!!! They all disregarded Muhammad saying that suggested Ali directly and indirectly as the leader of umma after his death. like Qadi Khomm or lots of other hadith,....
4.Omar killed Fatima, the daughter of Muhammad (wife of Ali) with a baby inside and unfortunately sunni scholars especially wahabbis do not like talking about this part of history and if you ask them why the tomb of Zahra is unknown they will become angry of you. This incident made shia very disapointed and sad.
5.Jamal war also were another story that Aiyasha and some sahaba went to war with Ali and after Ali defeated them, he respectfully returned Ayasha to medina/mecca
6.Karbala incident where Yazid killed Hussain were another sad historical point that shia wanted separate themselves from those who call themselves muslims and say Allah o Akbar but beheaded the grand son of Muhammad.
7.Shia love Ahlul bayt and shia is the enemy of the enemy of Ahlol bayt.
8. Yazid were son of Moavai and moavia were son of Abu sofian whose wife killed and eated the liver of Hamza in ohod war. Guess who put Moavia in shaam? Omar your second Khaliff. Guess who went to war with Ali in Seffain war? Moavia
