Remember Rummy went to Baghdad and shook his hand?Just as they seem to forget it was the CIA who first started arming Osama in the early 80s.........

Why do cons automatically assume I'm a liberal if I ask a question they don't like? For example I asked why do you forget that Rummy gave Saddam WMDs?I understand that he used most of them against Iranians and his own people.Which is why he had no WMDs.The cons answers here are what I should have expected...........distract and re-direct instead of giving an honest answer!

TA DAH! A Liberal that now recognizes that Iraq did have a weapons cache.

This was never forgotten by the US Government. This is how we knew that Hussein did have WMD. It is uninformed liberals that believe that they didn't exist. We also believed (and still believe) that Hussein did have a scientific weapons program.

Here lies the pickle. Liberals would like you to believe that because weapons have not been found, they didn't ever exist. Well, logic will tell you that you can never actually prove that something doesn't exist. You can only demonstrate that you haven't found it in the places you looked.

The cold hard facts are that Hussein had plenty of allies and wasn't watched all that closely by the UN after the first gulf war. He could have hidden these weapons in any number of other nations (Syria, Saudi Arabia, Russia....yeah, I said Russia) while the UN team was quarantined or otherwise led on a wild goose chase.

If Hussein actually destroyed them, it was on him to prove it to the UN. This was part of the treaty signed after the first Gulf War. He refused to document the destruction of the weapons and kept the wepons inspectors playing shell games for 10 years....leading the world to believe these weapons still existed.

The weapons were given to Iraq when they were at war with Iran. One of those cases where the enemy of my enemy is my friend. In hindsight, giving military weapons to a dicator who then used them on his own people and other soverign nations (Kuait) was a bad idea....but you can't undo history.

Just because we can't find these weapons, doesn't mean they did not exist. We never have found the body of Jimmy Hoffa, but I am pretty sure he was a real person.

You think about this logically. Iraq was being bled dry by international trade sanctions after Desert Storm. The only thing Iraq had to do in order to remove the sanctions was prove to the world that they were no longer a threat to peace in the region. They only needed to demonstrate to the UN that they were getting rid of their ability to attack others with WMD, yet (Hussein) refused. Why would a president refuse to abide by such requirements and let his people suffer? Any intelligent person would tell you he has something to hide.

Any other rationale for Hussein not cooperating with weapons inspectors is crazy. Some might not remember all the times the UN was refused entry into certain parts of Iraq, or the times the weapons inspectors actually left the country after Desert Storm. I remember those times very well. This is why I tune out dipwads who tell me that diplomacy and negotiations were working with Iraq....they were not. Hussein and the Iraq governent shined a flashlight on just how impotent and useless the UN is.

In theory the UN is a great concept. The reality is that they impose their sanctions on a country and let that rogue nation flip them the bird and walk away with nothing more than a warning. The United States merely stepped up and did what the UN was supposed to be doing all along.

I have not forgotten any of the history that led up to this war. Democrats are trying to capitalize on the fact that most of the population here in the US won't remember the last 30 years. Democrats make statements as if the whole Iraq conflict happened during the last 4 years.

I agree that the war needs to end, but it needs to end at the end...when the job is done, not when the weak can't stomach the reality anymore.

The chemicals were sold to Saddam by a Dutch businessman who is now in jail. Google it. BTW,didn't Madeline Albright raise a toast to Kim Jung. Oh , and Jimmy Carter first funded Afghanistan. You can Google all of this.

WMD doesn't always mean nuclear weapons... It can mean Mustard Gas and Sarin Gas also which Iraq did have.

We remember, we just don't think it's relevant. If you think someone is going to shoot you, then you should probably try to prevent it, even if you were the one who gave them the gun.
