It was in todays USA Today newspaper. Yes, kiddies, a news paper . It was also on Yahoo news this AM with a website to download how to do it. Some guy in New Jersey this summer spent 500 hours this summer (he says), had to dismantle it, use solder & a couple other things , he says got help from overseas from two Russians. Everything works except video email, comes in as regular email. He's selling it on Ebay, I think they said the bid was $6,000 this AM.

In an interivew the guy himself gave press, states in one breath, he posted for ALL the world to see, complete iPhone unlocking instructions; in the other breath, he cries he dosen't want people making $$$$ of his idea!!!
Before you call this guy a hero, make note that on that same BLOG, he's quietly offering unlocked iPhones for thousands of $$$$.....and he's getting some SERIOUS "bites"!!!
There might be truth to the notion brilliant people lack common sense. As we speak, thousands of quackers are popping up on the Net, offering unlocked iPhones for thousands, too.
Let the buyer beware, I say......but things now do get interesting......
And they have my blessing: Steve Jobs should be humiliated that his greed, nurtured by AT&T, got shut down BY A KID!!!

The bid is up to $15,000, which is good because I didn't feel like spending $12g on it anyway.

and the guy that unlocked it, spent all summer doing it. Then he put it on ebay and last bid was $3,000.00 on it.
