just because i post a question, doesn't mean that's how i feel. grow up people. this is a hypothetical question. it does irritate me to no end that innocent young men are losing there lives. i made no mention of them not being brave, nor am i comparing them as equal to prisoners. this is merely a question.

why don't they allow prisoners on death row to be organ donors? Wouldn't it be better if their last deed in life would be to help someone else? Why doesn't the gov't allow someone to be put into a deep coma and have their organs harvested instead of just pumping them full of poison?

would you really trust them to defend you. Also my husband is in the airforce which means at some time he WILL get deployed overseas but he chose to join the airforce and although it is a scary thing that he may have to fight one day and be in danger it is not like the old days when they were just told they had to go, the men/women who go to war these days feel great honour in doing so. If we were to send criminals in the war their would not be a defence, they would all go AWOL or shoot their own as they do not feel pride in defending their country.
Also a lifer in prision would have no value for their life and so why would they care about defending anothers if they do not care for their own??

Because the lifers are wimps and wusses and our young men are brave soldiers. There's a big difference. Jailbirds cannot be trusted to defend our country. They'd made friends with the enemy and go against the US if someone promised them something. It's an honor to be a marine and only the finest of our young men and young women, I might add, are capable of carrying this duty. Well, first of all, I think it would be easier to escape from a battlefield. Second of all, you are giving these hardened criminals GUNS and TRAINING. They could turn it on civilians, they could turn it on each other, they might turn it on the enemy. And they'll probably use it when they get out.
I just don't think it's a good idea to give people with nothing to lose very large guns and a tank or two. If you are going to use them simply as gun fodder, then put them down under capital punishment. Seeing comrades die (even criminals) is just going to destroy the morale of the other troops.

Didn't nagitar just ask the same question no more than 10 min ago?My oldest daughter was murdered by one of them lowlifers you want the goverment to let out to go fightin the war,are you crazy! you need a reality check and you need to grow up and face what is going on in this world.Better yet why don't you go over there and fight yourself,stirring up trouble in here.

I know what you mean sweetie. But it takes the right kind of men and women to go and fight for our country. Very brave and strong people. I really don't think that these prisoners would have our best interest at heart. God bless all of our people who are fighting for us.

lets see.... because they are into killing!!
There would be holy murder. You don't just hand out guns to maniacs and murders.
The point of war is not to just randomly kill people, it actually has a point. The lifers as you call them would probably shoot more of their own men, just like they stab eachother in prison with a rusty nail.

great idea, that would give them a chance of rehabilitation, a sense of purpose and belonging etc, .....the only problem might be the unreliability of fighting alongside a maniac or nutter!!

Because most prisoners are really cowards and at war they would run and hide and not defend our country. We couldn't depend on them to be have here now.....? NO TRUST!
