Can anyone help me with my history?

I understand that when the Slave Trade happend, We were torn apart from our families. I heard their was a battle to save us but we lost.

This is for anyone that is Black in Africa today, Here's your chance to provide any information about our history that we in America have lost.

Were our ancestors Egyptian?
What did we use on our hair?

Anything about our culture you can provide is great!

Oh and if you are going to have disrespectful answers, I will be glad to report abuse.

This is serious business and those of you who are not Black should respect others diferences as people should respect you.

Hi. I am a black person born, bred and presently living in Africa. Botswana to be exact (google it!).
Wow its very touching that you want to know your history! I dont know if I will be of any help but I will try my best.

As far as I know your ancestors were mostly off the west coast of Africa which would countries like Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, Guinea, Gabon. Egypt is more towards the most eastern part of Africa. So no I donot think most of your ancestors were Egyptian. I would encourage you to google the map of Africa and see where these countries lie in Africa. They are actually closer to America than Egypt. I stayed in America for a bit and in my opinion there are actually a lot of physical similarities between West Africans and Black Americans.

On the hair question, I donot exactly understand your question but if you mean why your hair is significantly longer and richer than us black Africans who remain here, well there I donot know.
However I have noticed that most people from north, west and east of Africa have really good rich long black compared to us down here in Southern Africa. Our hair tends to be kinky and short too!!! (personal experience). The weather in the upper part of Africa is wet and tropical so I think this contributes to the longer, rich hair.

As for culture, I dont even know where to begin girl. Send me an email if you have specific questions because there are so many diverse cultures and tribes in Black Africa I wouldnt know where to start. A lot of people think we all the same but we are very different.

Lastly, have you seen the film 'Roots'? I would encourage you to hunt for it on the internet. I am sure you could get it on Amazon. Its based on a true story about a black American man who traced his roots all the way back to Africa. I think his story is a fair reflection of Black American history.

I wish you good luck in discovering your history. There is plenty of information out there if you look in the right places. I hope my answer is not too long!

I'm black and used to live in Africa does that count? :)

Our ancestors were from west africa, so it's doubtful if we have much, if any, egyptian blood.
