I have a 1997 Chevy Blazer s-10 4wd.My front passenger side has dropped a good bit. The distance from my tire to firewall on that side is much lower than the other 3. I brought it to a mechanic to tell me what was wrong and how much to fix it. They told me it was a busted strutt and quoted me a price. I called another mechanic shop to see what they would charge to fix a busted strut. After telling him the type of vehicle I have, he informed me that it doesn't have struts. I am a dumb female and could really use some help here.

Go to any car and truck re-cycling yard and remove a pair of torsion bars from either a Chevy Blazer (small S-10) size or another S-10. I've measured the diameters of the blazer bar and the S-10 and from what I remember they measured the same using a verier caliper.
I sure as sh*t wouldn't return to the shop where they said you needed struts. Chevy S-10's never had struts.
It's an easy job to replace your own bars but you should have it aligned when your done. The correct pre-load on the bars determines ride height. If that isn't correct both caster and camber will be off a bit.

No they do not have struts, they have what is called a torsion bar. A long metal bar that twists and acts like a spring. It could be broken or just need adjustment. Might want to go to another shop and tell them to check the torsion bars on the front. If one is broken you should hear a noise and have a rough ride on the side that broke. If you need a used one try here. http://www.car-part.com/index.htm. Good luck
