is it legal to drive in the united states with only a mexican drivers license? i have a friend who is here with a student visa and she doesnt have a US license. is that ok?

Perfectly legal. My California drivers license is accepted all over the world.

In most states, after you've been there one month, you need to register your car, and get a drivers license from that state.

I think it is okay unless she lives here. Many tourist from other countries rent cars and I don't think they all have US licenses

Nope.illegal.If she doesn't have at least liability insurance it is also illegal.
