I'm so glad you asked, Your NOT to young to get an account, In fact now is the most important time! have your guardian read this with you!
I work at UMB Bank and our main location is 1010 Grand Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64106. (816) 860-7930
We have youth savings accounts for children under the age of 18 and also a parent will be on the account and an ATM/debit card can be issued to you as well.
The minimum deposit to open the account is $25.00 and there is no limit of deposits you may make a month,
Withdrawals:
your allowed 6 withdrawals a month
you get 3 free withdrawals and after that you will be charged $1.00
Interest: The interest is based of your daily balance, we use that method to calculate your interest
We'd Love to have you bank with UMB and I'm sure you & your child will love us!
I'm unfortunately not in the KC region, I'm in Wichita Kansas but if you have any questions please call me at 316-266-6000 My name is Elizabeth and I'd love to tell you more! Thanks for inquiring

Due to Federal Reserve regulations, a minor cannot have an account alone, it would have to be a minor account where only the guardian on the account (normally your parents, but whatever adult opens the account for you) can access the account. Your parents can get an ATM card only (no debit cards, those are for checking accounts), and allow you to use it, but it would not be in your name. When you turn 18, your parents can remove themselves from the account, or close it and give you the money so you can open your own. But it does not happen automatically just because you turn 18, you still cannot access it until your parents make the change.

You can go to any bank in the KC area, i would recommend going to the same one that your parents use. I set up a savings account when I was 12 at UMB (cause thats what my parents use). Then your parents just have to have there name on your bank account (for the card) with you until you are an adult. My brothers wouldn't let me or my brothers get a card until we had a job. Anyway, any bank in the KC area should let you open one and a get a card as long as your parents co-sign with you.

You will probably need a responsible adult to go with you to the bank to set this up. Possibly you may need another person (an adult) listed on the account with you. The bank card - hmm...I just don't know about that! (sorry)

Any neighborhood bank will do that for you. Have your parents take you to the one closest to your house. They will have to co-sign on the account.
