I am not old fashion in this area, but why not wait for him to ask. maybe, hint a little. example, some place you'd like to go or a movie you'd like to see. ask if he has seen the movie, yes or no, state, i haven't, but I'd really like to see it. just make it easy for him to ask without taking the chance of asking and being refused. Don't ask in front of a group of people. Try striking up a conversation when your not around his male peers or a group of your friends.

Sometimes girls do have to make the first move, but being a girl I NEVER made first moves. I always waited to be asked out, and if he didn't ask, it never happened. But that's ok because now I have someone wonderful, and we've been together for a little over 4 years! I think you should drop hints at him, and be a little more flirty, just to let him know that it IS ok to make a move. He'll catch on soon enough.

Being a guy who didn't like approaching girls, or didn't know how (I'm still not sure which), sometimes you have to make the first move. Maybe ask him to take you to a movie, if you both have fun, tell him that you want to do more stuff together. Let it go on from there.

i personally like to wait. i feel bad for the some guys they have to ask. i once waited for about 1 or 2 weeks for a guy to ask me out. i was getting kinda mad but it worked out ohkay...
