Here's a link to a web site from the University of South Dakota called:
WHAT CAN I DO WITH AN ANTHROPOLOGY DEGREE?

Here's the reality:
To continue in Anthropology you WILL need a Phd at some point. Jobs are very competitive because they are few. The pay will be livable (even at the Phd level) if you are careful with your money. You could branch out however. I agree that an anthro background gives you a unique perspective. Mine does. I have chosen to leave the field and teach because I must support my family.

Human resource offices like anthro people because we have a unique 'people perspective'. Museums are an alternative but often require an additional degree in museum studies. If your background is linguistics perhaps interpreter or language teacher. A physical background could include zoo work, rehab centers for primates etc.

I'm sorry to sound gloomy but this is the truth. The only other major that has more unemployed PhDs is Art History. If you choose to pursue your career in Anthro do it with vigor and NETWORK! This is a must.

Good Luck!

Can you say, "Would you like fries with that?"
Just kidding. Majoring in anthropology is like majoring in philosophy, you learn to think and consider the world in novel ways that others have not. Doors will open to you if you follow what you love, if you really enjoy what you are doing. There is time enough after your eight years of undergraduate education and eight years of grad studies to worry about earning a living. Live for the day and live with gusto. The rest will fall into place.

I wouldn't expect to get rich at it, but it must be very interesting and rewarding. If you need lots of money get an MBA later.

About six figures when you get your PHD. For now, apply to a PHD as assistant. Stopping short is stupid.
