I'm not saying what Vick did is OK, but if you go to this article you'll find that our VP shot numerous birds (and a hunting partner while he was at it) that were born and raised for the sole purpose of being shot. Wild birds are afraid of people and are a lot harder to shoot than the stocked ones. http://www.thepittsburghchannel.com/news/2693558/detail.html
Now, is this less cruel than dogfighting?

Dogs don't wind up on the dinner plate.

The birds have the ability to get away, whereas the dogs are locked into pins and fought until they are dead. Also the torture and whatnot that takes place before the dogs are put together to fight is more inhumane than shooting a bird. A dog may be tortured as long as a year before it reaches the "desired" level of aggression that dog fighters look for. At least the bird will die quickly if shot, whereas the dogs can take days if not weeks to die and are most times thrown in the trash to do so.

Well This is a really touch subject but I will attempt to give you my answer.. Hunting is legal but is monitored because it provides food for people and is also a way to controll the amount of animals. For example deer hunting here in Indiana they will open it a extra week or two sometimes if there seem to be more deer in the area causing accidents or whatever.. Dog fighting is not right.. When A dog that is taught to fight another dog and kill it that is wrong .. Nothing but pain comes to the other dog.. And for instance when A fighting dog gets loss or escapes their owners the outcome is what my niece is now going through.. She has bit marks over 80% of her body. Dogs should be treated with respect and not taught to harm other dogs or humans. I hope this gives you a answers .. Maybe not the one you wanted.

Personally I think both are retarded. But funnily enough, I think Dogfighting is less immoral simply because at least the dog gets a fair fight. How the hell is a bird supposed to win against a guy with a gun? They don't. Still, both are just people killing wittle innocent animals for no reason, and thus stooooopidd!!!

dogfighting includes dogs ripping each other apart, dogs that don't make the cut are let loose to wander the streets(to chomp on someones leg) or be put down by a bullet, drowning, etc.....

hunting involves a shot and quick death and next is dinner on the table.......

it seems it probably is cruel if you are a vegetarian, but ......

think twice before you order a whopper at burger king

It may be less cruel since nobody is ripping the birds to shreds, bit by bit. I'm sure if you asked a member of PETA they would prefer all hunting banned. If you asked a vegan they would just do away with anything produced from animals, period.

Yes, it's a lot less cruel. And most of us go a lifetime without managing to shoot a hunting companion!

There's no analogy between dogfighting and any kind of hunting whatsoever.

If you want a valid analogy, try cockfighting or bear baiting, both of which are illegal.

If you can't grasp the difference, be grateful that most of us can.

First, when you shoot a bird correctly, it dies instantly, it is not torn to pieces. This is not torture.
Second, people eat the bird the purpose is not to watch one animal cause pain to another, nor to see the blood flow.
I think anyone who enjoys watching dog fighting or cock fighting is sick, enjoying watching pain and blood.
Totally different thing I think.

Basically the law says you can hunt and eat animals BUT you canNOT torture them or make them suffer unnecessarily. That's why dog fighting (or any animal fighting) is illegal.

By the way I'm against "sport hunting"; To hunt for survival is one thing but to kill animals just for fun is very sick and disgusting.

Yes and birds are different animals. Dogs are pets, birds usually arent. We eat birds, not dogs (bird as in chicken and turkey)
