Take out the baskets and everything else you can. You have already gotten it into the spray arms but it should have cleaned itself out by now. AT any rate, clean out the interior of the washer and pour water into it. Then you can close the door and start the cycle. the first thing it will do is activate the drain cycle. When the water has drained out, open the door and fill it back up with water and close the door and let that drain out. Sooner or later, the comet has to flush out. Good luck.

I would open the dishwasher , remove the baskets and wash out by hand with a wet cloth. remove the filter and wash it out then pour some water into the washer and if you can set it to drain , pour more water through it .
You might be able to wash out the detergent dispenser if thats where she poured the comet.

.
Even if there are soap bubbles coming out it should not hurt to wash dishes in it since all dish detergents have bleach in them. Just don*t add any detergent to the load when you do dishes. Eventually it will clean itself . You are just wasting water running it on empty.
Add some vinegar to the last rinse to do away with water spots.

Get in there and clean out as much as possible, then run some empty batches through it, it may take several but, it's a heck of a lot cheaper then getting a new one, there one thing in your favor, it'll be clean.
