Saddam was found guilty of ordering the 1982 murders of 148 Iraqis from the predominantly Shiite village of Dujail after a failed assassination attempt against him. He will be hanged, along with his half-brother Barzan Ibrahim, then the leader of Iraq’s feared Muhkabarat intelligence agency, and Awad Hamed al-Bandar, head of Iraq’s Revolutionary Court, which issued the death sentences against the Dujail villagers. A local Baath Party officer was acquitted for lack of evidence, and four others received prison sentences in the highly publicized trial.

An Iraqi appeals panel has unlimited time to review the case. But if the verdicts are upheld and confirmed by Iraq’s presidential council, the convicted men must be executed within thirty days. Meanwhile, Saddam is standing trial in another case related to the 1988 “al-Anfal” (the spoils) campaign against Iraqi Kurds, who opposed his brutal regime. Approximately 4,000 villages were destroyed and 180,000 Kurds liquidated in a series of mass murders designed to break down all resistance to his dictatorship

An international politics analyst I've listen few days before the war told that between USA, China, Russia and France the country more at ease in terms of oil business if the war happened was USA. USA is as country (not sure if by law on gov, looks more like oil men strategics) making like Netherlands did on European colonization era - getting main points at good health for business not having huge properties abroad. Iraq has plenty of oil, but there are other sources. Is ironic that Brazil is in Chavez hands although not a surprise.
Saddam was a dictator and ethnically a racist- those two reasons are more valuable for him not go on on power. Like any other bad ruler. Iraq deserves peace and may God enter in there.

His death was one of the most unspeakable disrespect full thing to do. Like or not he was - chief of a part of that country; a human being - although forgot it with so many, what was criticized about him was what was done to him.
Was bad and politically couldn't had been more stupid.

He only controlled the oil in Iraq and he was subject to the same market forces as everyone else.
Oil is sold on the global market and there is enough even when Iraq isn't producing any.

He did control Iraq's oil reserve, and he sold at OPEC prices. He had to be removed because he was a psycho dictator who openly supported terrorism and had a history of WMD use.
