Veterinarians have an extra 4 years of medical school, while vet techs have either a 2 or 4 year degree.
Techs do not do surgery, prescribe medication, or diagnose illnesses.
Your question is too complex for yahoo answers. You need to do a little more research... I am a bachelor student at Michigan State for vet tech. If you explore a little on their website you might get your answer.
www.cvm.msu.edu.
On the veterinary technician link they have some money info and some job example stuff.
And by the way, vet techs don't make a great living unless you are in research or work for a drug company. If you want the money, be a doctor, but remember, you also have the hearty responsibility...
I have worked in a hospital as a tech because some states say you need an education and some dont. In my home state, it's a free for all. But I chose to have the education anyway. If you want to know specifically what I do at work, shoot me an email and i'll try and explain it better... good luck!

Vets require a bachelor's degree, 4 years of vet school and must pass a state licensing exam. They make far more money than a vet tech - but it varies widely depending on the type of vet they are and if they are a specialist. Vets can do all forms of animal medical care, including surgery, prescribing medication and carrying out various treatments.
Vet techs do not need a college degree but often must pass a certificate program. Most of the work they do must be under the supervision of a vet. Under supervision they can give vaccinations, do simple exams and treatments (such as expressing anal glands), take temperature and vitals and if they have a special certificate do euthanasias. They may also assist with surgeries.
Vets can live well on the money they make. Vet techs rarely make more than $30-$40K a year. You can live on it, but you won't get rich.

Google.com has a lot of info.
The vets get at least 8 years of training to do what they do, and they're the ones who open the vet clinics and are the main 'practice' of the business.
Vet techs get a year or so of training and are the helpers--they do blood draws, blood pressure, take samples, clean kennels, hold the animals while they're being examined, watch the anesthesia during operations, observe the post operative animals, etc. They don't make anywhere near the income that a vet does, but it's a nice job if you like this kind of thing. The only thing is, you'll be seeing a lot of sick animals which can be hard for some people to adjust to.

I am going to give this a star because I am also interested in being a vet/vet tech. I do not know how much money you get or so but I would like to see the answers people say. Thank you for asking this question! :-)

A veterinarian is a doctor and the veterinary technician is the equivalent of a nurse, both respectable careers. But remember, if this matters to you, the veterinarian (doctor) makes a lot more money than the technician.
