secure? Can you please walk me through all the steps? I don't want my neighbors accessing my network with their wireless modems. Right now my network is unsecured, but I don't know how to make it secure...

Thank you kindly!

If you log into the router configuration page, for Linksys type 192.168.1.1 to access it. You will see a wireless tab. On that tab there will be a wireless link. Once in there you can set it to WEP which will require a 28 bit key to access your connection. You can also select WPA or WPA Pre Shared Key. This requires a password for connection to your network. This will eliminate others from getting a free ride on your internet. Just remember whichever option you choose (WEP or WPA) as you will need it to access the network as well. It will be required once and then it will be remebered in your pc. Hopefully this helps.

You have a Windows XP but you don't have a Wireless Modem. The Modem you have was furnished by your Internet Service Provider and they don't funish stand alone wireless products. Your linksys router should be wireless.
If it isn't then there is your problem.
You must connect your ISP's Modem to your choice of Wireless Router to have wireless connection, Don't forget your computer must be equiped with a wireless card.
If your computer doesn't have a wireless card then you will need one.

Go to your router config page (Usually something like 192.168.0.1, try switching around that 0.) Default for the login, you leave the username blank and enter "admin" as your password. Then there should be a tab marked "Wireless." Click that. Then there should be a tab marked "Wireless Security." Click that and you will be able to configure your wireless keys.
