I quit drinking alcohol a few weeks ago, but still would like to go to bars for the social scene (since I'm single). Without going off my diet (lost 15 lbs while not drinking alcohol), how is the best way for someone to spend time at a bar and not come off as being cheap nor a prude?

To Trent the Moron, either you're a homophobe, which means enough as is, or you have a gut the size of Kansas. My job is exercise and I do plenty of it. However, just like a lot of guys at my work, you get older and you're body doesn't work as well.

Frankly, I've gotten some other guys at work to quit too and they've lost weight also. So, after I drop another 30 lbs and am tight all over, I'll come by and take whatever girl might be hanging around you home with me, deal?

i do not drink but i do go to bars some times because that where every is going. i have to say i really do not have much fun. have you ever been the sober one watching a room full of drunks.its always the sober one that the drunks want to slobber all over. just order a 7up and no one will notice if its alcohol or not.

This is a tough one. If you order cranberry juice or sparkling water, you're bound to raise some eyebrows and be commented on. If you're serious about not drinking, then you should tell them that you're not interested in doing so, but would rather be social at the bar. If it's going to be a big deal and you don't want to look like a freak, one light beer isn't going to hinder your diet as long as you're consuming 1500 calories a day. You could balance things out; like, take away a little bit of your breakfast (a piece of toast, perhaps) if you know you're going to be drinking that night.

im only 18 ( so obviously i cant drink unless someone 21 puts a shot into my coke lol) but i still go to the 18+ bars just to play darts and pool. i meet a lot of people and still have fun, plus its a safe ride home for my friends who are old enough to drink

if u are worried about looking cheap or prude, just buy a pop - most people probably wont even notice

Only women and gay men watch their weight by dieting. Men lift weights and work out thats what I do. At least I don't have to sit around and say "I can't have that because I am on a diet" like a little girl. Don't be a pansy and drink. Prude? real men don't say the word "prude", we say pu s sy or homo but not prude.

To go to a bar while avoiding alcohol is like viewing pornography while trying to avoid sex scenes. Continuing in the bar scene will eventually break you down from any vow to stop drinking.

I recommend other social places to gather other than bars and lounges.
