I'm a pretty creative person, and I sure as hell have a lot to express, but I can never seem to get really inspired to actually do anything. My drawing teacher dotes on me and raves about my ability, but it just frustrates me because I can never think of anything worthwhile to do. I'd really like to hone my skills (I took my first drawing class ever last spring), and I love to draw, but I seem to have a real mental block with getting started.

I'm sure there are other artists out there who go through this all the time, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it all.

I try to keep myself in at least one drawing class almost perpetually. (check out local colleges, etc.) Sometimes you can find a group of artists in a area who meet once a week or a few times a month & all pitch in to get a model to pose for a few hours. Even just plopping yourself down in a gallery & doing master copies of some of your favorite works...surround yourself with other artists. Maybe talk to your art teacher about this??

I alwaysss get that way. Usually I just sit there and make desighns untill something pops into my head!

I love to draw, and always want to, but can never decied if I should use a canvas, try something new, paint, pencil, pen!!!

I can get VERY frustrated sometimes... thats when I ask my little brother what he thinks I should draw and what I should use!

so my answer is.. ask for someons advice when getting started!!

Just start to doodle. That's what I do to get in the mood. I start to draw shapes and designs, add color. Then I want to draw specific things, like my computer or my shoe on my floor. Try to do it at a point were you're bored. Flip through designs on the internet, it should help.
Hope this helps.

i think alot of people go thru that. i know i do. how about taking a walk, noticing birds in the trees, ducks on a pond., nature. then have your pencil and pad with you. something like that tends to get me at least drawing something. then i go from there. best--

I am in this same situation.
There is no permanant resolution. However what you need is a muse, something (someone) that will "get your juices flowing."
