Im going to use it partly for school and partly for the the "fun stuff" (like internet pictures movies music ichat ect.). I have heard alot about all of the macs (macbook, imac, mac mini, macbook pro) and they are all mixed. Some say "this is a great product and i highly reccomend it, ive had no problems with it". Others say, "im very dissapointed the apple OS crashed on me and its a very unsatisfying product." WHO SHOULD I BELEIVE?

Check the URLs below. Consumer Reports top rates the MacBook Pro (over all PC laptops), and rates it highest in battery life and tech support. Most of the anti-Mac stuff you see here on Yahoo is just baloney. For some reason there are Mac haters who will make stuff up to get a rise out of Mac owners. Check Computerworld below, and look at their reviews of Macs, even some die hard PC users have switched. The main advantage of a Mac is the lack of viruses. There are no MacOs X viruses in the wild. Look at the computer security section here on Yahoo, 99.9% of the questions deal with Windows viruses etc.

Macs are great and if you compare the Mac crashes vs Pcs the Mac will win every time.

I would start off with an entry level macbook, it has all the power you need for the items you listed above. The mac is a great product and I would recommend any computer from their company.

PS
I currently have a powerbook and am waiting for the new operating system to be released. If you buy the laptop now, you'll have to pay for the OS upgrade.

Good Luck

We have a mac and it's great! It's much better then any of the others. We hope to be getting the new aliminum one so I highly recommend it. Your taking your chances with any computer you get. Some people are just unlucky with any kind of computer they get (mac, dell, etc). I don't know what your price range is but I'd suggest looking into what each kind offers, and what has what you need. Also, talk to someone at an apple store or best buy etc. They should be helpful since they know a lot about it. Good luck! :)

OK, believe without doubts that Mac OS 9 or lesser version sucks to high heavens.

No gaming means anything can go. Apple products are solid good hardware but some Macbook hardware problem exists.
