He can express his desire to change his name at any age. However he has to be of age to petition a name change. Many professionals and those in show business do not use their birth names. They pick one they like and stick with it only using the legal name when necessary. Names can also be abbreviated to fit ones life style. In this case its a good thing the child has options.

No he cant until he is 18 years of age. What was she thinking when she named him? Is that his fathers name? Its not a bad name but its very unusual and i hope it doesnt cause the baby any problems at school.Tell her to give him a nickname.

Very different name. Kinda looks like hamster. When kids get older, he will unfortunately not be teased too much. I mean that name has the word "shame" in it, was she ashamed to have him? Then for short, kids may call him Shame. What was she thinking!!!

It is a very unusal name, but I find it tasteful and unique. If I was a guy and had that name, I might change it. But I suggust he use the nickname Chester or maybe Shawn.

He can change it at 18 without parental consent- however, he could change it at any age under 18 WITH parental consent.

Ouch...that's, er, quite a name. :)
