They are much safer relative to other countries, believe me.
I found India very safe indeed but perhaps not traffic wise or health wise.

i am taking safe in the sense of walking late nights.really
any cities in india is not at all safe after 10 without a male escort.this is true because i happened to be in most of the places. but in states it is very safe even for a young girl
coming home alone at night by changing two or three train.
i became surprised when my daughter comes home from downtown newyork tosuburbs of newyork at midnight 12,and when she walked .three kilometers from her library to her apt at philadelphia.i heard so many places in usa are safe
but in india where ladies are looked down as sex object we cant dream walking alone even after 50 years i think this is the plight in so many asian countries.
even in our movies it is emphasised by showing a raping scene of a lonely walking girl .

nice women are safe everywhere. only those who dress up in a provokative way and move out in late nights are unsafe. moreover i am not happy this word 'safe' for women.

because of the weak law and order of the govt. kaha jata hai na diya tale andhera. its the same thing happening there .All the ministers are there and all the police and securities are busy atending them and hence who will look after u?

this is due ot killing of women foetuses in the womb, due to whcih gender inequality has come and people does not find girl to marry and in frustration they do like this to molest woman. it is happening all over india and it will worsen.
