It's really that simple of an answer. It costs money to deliver courses online and someone has to pay for it - that someone is the student.

What you can get is financial aid for online programs that can reduce your costs just like at traditional colleges.

Do some research on online colleges/universities and their tuition fees. Once you find one or two you are interested in, fill out a FAFSA (www.fafsa.gov). If the government decides you are eligible, they may give you a grant to cover your education costs.
