Why was Draco and Harry masters of the wand? I thought the wand was traced in history through deaths...if Draco did not kill Dumbledore, and Harry did not kill Draco...why the hell did it end up in Harry's hands?

Ollivander explained it to Harry in Shell Cottage. He tells Harry that for a wand to pass to another, its owner DOES NOT HAVE TO BE KILLED. The owner simply must be overpowered. At the top of the tower Draco Disarms Dumbledore (some alliteration for ya!), overpowering the master of the Elder Wand. Though Draco never picks it up, he overpowered its owner and the wand is therefore rightfully his. In Malfoy Manor, Harry steals Draco's wand. He overpowers Draco, the master of the Elder Wand. This means that ownership has now passed to the more powerful of the two: Harry. This is why the wand is Harry's and will not kill him.

The whole point was that the Elder Wand did NOT pass through the death of it's owner. I was passed to a new master through the DEFEAT of it's owner. So when Draco disarmed Dumbledore on the top of the keep in the Half Blood Prince, he became the master of the wand. Then in Deathly Hallows Harry defeated Draco physically and became the wand's new master. So when Voldemort took the wand from the grave, he didn't realize who was really the wand's master. Even later, he assumed it was Snape because he was the one that killed Dumbledore. But by that point Harry was the master of the wand, so it didn't work properly against him.

No, it has nothing to do with death. The wand belong to the person who wins it from its master or overpowers its master. At the end of book 6, Draco disarmed Dumbledore right before Snape killed him, which made Draco unknowingly the master of the Elder Wand, which was buried with Dumbledore. In Book 7, Harry took Draco's regular wand from him, which means he defeated Draco, which made him the master of the Elder Wand, which is why the wand would not kill him and instead backfired on LV.

Draco disarmed Dumbledore and that's how he was the master of the elder wand and then Harry over-powered Draco, so i guess that if u just take it from them in a duel.

Because it doesn't need to be death take makes you the owner of the wand, it can also be if you disarm the person who owns the wand. so Draco disarmed Dumbledore at the end of book 6, making him the wands owner. Then when harry is at the Malfoy manor (in book 7) he disarms Draco, so in the end Harry is the owner of the wand.

The wand was not passed down because the previous owner died, but because the previous owner was defeated. Before Snape killed Dumbledore, Draco disarmed him. He became the wands master. Later, Harry took Draco's wand from him, in essance, defeating him, becoming the new master.

It wasn't traced through death, but who beat the other in a duel. Yes, Snape killed Dumbledore, but Malfoy was the one who beat him. Dumbledore says something to that effect, then Harry beats Draco. So Harry is the master of the wand.
