Judges 11 as I recall.
Funny how, despite its accuracy, this question got deleted last time, isn't it? Are you people running away from your own religion now that it's shown to have done things you ridicule Aztecs and others for doing?

If I remember right Judges is Old Testament. Many of the things done in the Old testament (The sacrifices, The stonings for adultery and for kids being disobedient, destruction of cities) are not done anymore becuase before Jesus we were living under the law and living under the law only brings death and not connection to God.

Since you can't read and put this in the wrong section. Then perhaps you can't read and are misquoting the section of scripture to which you are referring because of ignorance.

The passage you are speaking of, you say correctly is in Judges 11. However, if you read that passage you will find that the virgin daughter Jephthah was not sacrificed despite her father's vow to do so because, it was against Jewish law given by God, to sacrifice a human being. Therefore, she went off into the mountains and bewailed her virginity for two months. Then she returned to her fathers house and remained a perpetual virgin the rest of her life. It sure would be nice if people kept their word to that degree today.

As for the Aztecs they were never ridiculed for practicing human sacrifice but they were condemned for doing so. So read the passage and make sure you are correct before you ask the question. Then ask it in the right section.

Apparently you like to pick and choose;
If you ever talked back to your father, were you taken to the city gates and stoned? No?
You mother and sister worked on the sabbath? Were they sold into slavery? No?
So apparently you and your family do not believe in the old testament either, so why quote it?
Who is you people? Who ridicules the Aztecs? Rather all inclusive of a person who recalls the wrong things and then preaches out of context.
Too bad puppy, you just got a laugh this time. Try again.

How are you assuming that were all Jewish ??
I think it's safe to say that if this happened, it was before the Christian era, and I beleive most Americans are Christians, although the Arabs hate us as if we were in fact all Jews !
LoL
BTW, Who ridiculed the Aztecs? If they had slaughtered a few more Spaniards, they might still be around ! Oh, That's right, they couldn't find any Spanish Virgins to sacrifice ! LoL

jephthah's daughter honored her father and their God. it was a time of war and at that time, it was a common practice and usual to scarifice something precious to shoe their faith and to ask blessings for victory in battle. She requested a two month period to prepare and was granted it upon return she vowed never to marry or bear children. She is not mentioned by name but was his only child. all could see his committment to God and her committment to her father by this act.

we have long passed that phase in human history and our religion but we face do an enemy today that has not. it is still considered a matter of honor to stone or kill a disobeient female and i pray that we do not fall to these terrorist who would take us back in history instead of to the future of enlightnement and respect for all life.

So what's your point. I would hope those that embrace Christianity would know and understand the origin. Sorry Lost my head for a moment. If they did they wouldn't be so self-righteous and trying to dictate everyone else morality.

P.S. You posted this in the wrong forum.

The early history of all the great religions have such stories. The religious right, as you may have noticed, does not disavow such violence and curelty--as Jesus commanded them to do if they wish to claim to be Christians. They merly try to claim that it's only other religiouns tha tare violent or evil--the, of course, are only "doing God's will."

Whatever they are doing, though, it certainly isn't Christ's will.

Since you can't even quote the proper scripture, it's obvious that you are another one of those people who like to pluck a random scripture out of the Bible, and then want to debate about it.

Study the Bible for yourself. Pray for God to open your eyes and soften your heart so you can understand what you're reading.

I appreciate your interest in what the Bible means.
