Most college make you take at least one class in every major that they offer, to give you a well rounded education. During your freshmen and sophomore years, you really just have the requirements to take, buy that time you would have probably made your choice. Personally i think you should go into the medical field because that is where you can get a good job in just about any city, and not worry about layoffs. Whatever you decide, be safe in school and be smart. Good luck.

As a freshman you will have to take some math and science courses. For Engineering, physics will help you decide which area of engineering you may enjoy. Most physics I courses will include forces such as newtons law, statics, dynamics and thermodynamics. Physics II typically will cover particles, electronics and magnetic fields.

For the medical field taking an anatomy physiology course as an elective will give you some insight in to which area you maybe interested in. Good luck to you.

Just about any area of medicine is lucrative and in very high demand, especially nursing. As a nurse you can pretty much write your own ticket. No layoffs and everyone, everywhere is short of nurses.

If I didn't have such a weak stomach, I would go into nursing.

I've heard a quote but I don't know who said it:
"Do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life!"
I'm working on this right now. I've found something I love doing, I just have to make it profitable enough to replace my current income.

The good thing about college is you don't have to pick a major freshman year!
Just take your generals because that way you can figure out what you like and dislike. Take classes that you think you might enjoy and see if you like the coursematerial.

What are your favorite activities. There was a recent movie on TV that was made when Pat O'Brien was a big star, in black-and-white movies. This must have been one of his early ones, and in fact Ronald Reagan was one of players in the story, "Win one for the Gipper !!!" ha ha
Anyway, the picture was about Knute Rockne the great football coach, who was in college studying ------no, not football, but CHEMISTRY. And he was considered a brilliant chemist by the professor, but he kept coaching FOOTBALL.
Guess what he turned out to be--------ah ah ah. Yr right !!!!

Take your general ed classes, and you should find something that interst you. You said engineering and medical field, and I thought biomedical engineering. If you do decide to major in engineering, you should talk to your counselor ASAP; there is a lot of math and science that you have to take.
