My favorite Indian restaurant in the world is Kashmir in Salem, NH. Does anyone have any recomendations for great, spicy Indian food in Boston or South of Boston, South shore?

From the Boston Globe...

Masalaa Boston, 786 Boston Road/Route 3A, Billerica, 978-667-3443
In Billerica, Masalaa Boston offers vegetarian dishes from the entire subcontinent but has plenty of south Indian options. Everything we've tried at this unassuming eatery has been fabulous, and the banana leaf-lined plates are a charming touch. The south Indian fare includes silky vegetable chetti-nadu curry, masala dosas (crispy crepes made of rice and lentil flour, stuffed with chunks of spicy potatoes), and fried idly (steamed rice patties sauteed with onions and spices). Other clear winners are the palak paneer (verdant, smoky with cumin, and studded with chunks of farmers' cheese) and malai kofta curry (tender vegetable dumplings bathed in a rich cream-and-cashew sauce).

Named after a town in Southern India, this restaurant offers a wonderful variety of delicious South Indian Cuisine at low prices. Most items on the all-vegetarian menu can be made vegan. Try the dosa (paper thin rice and lentil crepe with various stuffings), and the veggie pakoras. The decor is simple, the flavors are elegant. Their 25 item lunchtime buffet is one of the best, and most mouth-watering, bargains to be found.

Forget what you know about Indian cuisine--there are no vindaloos or tikka masalas on the menu--and buckle up for a culinary adventure. Jhinga meethi is a scintillating pot of fenugreek-spiced shrimps, while a dish of shabnam purluft displays delicate button mushrooms stuffed with savory homemade cheese and grilled in a tandoor oven. From quail to scallops to lobster, nontraditional ingredients dot the menu. Vegetarians are well-served, with a bevy of tantalizing offerings--eggplant in cashew gravy, okra seasoned with ginger and onion.

Punjab located in Arlington, MA right on Mass Ave is amazing. I never tried Indian food, and went with my boyfriend and really enjoyed it. He loves Indian food, and said it was some of the best he's had. It's a small place, but worth the find.

If you can make it to Inman Square in Cambridge, Punjabi Daba has great Indian food fast-food style. There's several great restaurants on Moody Street in Waltham, my favorite is Little India.

Moody Street in Waltham has several outstanding ones among the dozens of ethnic restaurants there. It also has several Indian markets because of the large Indian population around the area.
