At restaurants, tipping should be factored in as part of the total cost. If you hate tipping, go to a fast food place.

I tip because it is what is normally done. However, I do not agree with it. Employers should be made to pay hardworking waiters and waitresses fairly. There is no excuse for the poor pay for them.

I do agree that that is what they hired on to do so should not get upset when people do not tip. Some of your customers are elderly or on a fixed income. Shopping for groceries is either sometimes too expensive or too inconvenient. They have a right to do whatever fits in their budgets.

Giving extra special service to people who are rude, overly demanding or those with out of control children is ridiculous. I would just give them the basic service and and nothing more. Messing with someone's food is not the answer either. That makes the server just as bad as the a**hole who is causing the problem.

I'll also say that it burns me up to have an automatic 15-20% gratuity to my bill when the server has done nothing more than greet me and brought me my food.

But I always tip, sigh.... Even with bad service, if I eat the food, I realize that someone has to clear the table. However, I usually do not return to that restaurant and sometimes I even write a note to the management.

I'm a waitress, I had a group of single, young men, who after having excellent service, and my manager watched them, tipped me 25 cents off a $60 bill.

Only once have I never recieved a dime, a woman with her husband and 4 children. Recieved excellent service, let thier children run around like hoodlums and trashed thier area, this time the bill was $75.

Sometimes I wonder if half the people I wait on have ever worked a day in thier life!

I always tip, and sometimes, more than is required- usually at least five dollars in spite of the bill being only 10-15. Even if the service happens to be subpar, I'd still foot an extra couple of bills unless you catch me in a really bad mood. Otherwise I just feel cheap and stingy. (And you know I'd waste that money on something worthless anyway, might as well leave it for someone who might actually need it.)

There aren't many good reasons for not tipping. One, if you're on a very limited budget & rarely go out to eat. Two, if the service was bad.

I am a server, and we do have people that just don't have the manners to tip. Now, putting a booger in someones food is unacceptable, but be assured if you don't tip, you will get slower service and no refills.Alexander, don't ever come to my restaurant, how can you not tip at all? That is rude, and it tells your server that you are cheap and ignorant!!!

Good service = good tip. Expected service = minimal tip. Poor service = no tip.

And Aya, a booger in my soup will send you to the hospital and criminal court for assult. No wonder you're a waitress - you're an idiot.

I always tip, regardless of the food, drink or service. Everyone has a bad day.

Getting tipped for your service is not earning "extra money" ...it's part of our salary..we pay taxes on it and we also pay taxes on the money that we have to tip out to the bartenders, bussers, and expo people. so even if you give me a $5 tip...i probably only get to keep $2 of it if that...i work my butt of and give excellent service to my guests...even if they are rude and run me to death...and i do it with a smile

I always tip. It is certainly cheap not to tip at all. I have been out to dinner with people that make sure they only tip exactly 15% but I have never been with anyone who haven't tipped at all.
