Well, it isn't so since there is no digital combination that signifies the meaning of life, it is only natural there there is no equivalent for death either.

colloquially 86 means "eliminated"
and it was a pun to suggest expendable in Mel Brooks'
"Get Smart" Agent 86.
I think in the Japanese culture 1 may mean "death" but I am not sure.
Numbers are used as metaphores Biblically but not a lot is known about that (and the truth of that has nothing to do with "Bible Code" crap).
Numbers in history have taken on meaning because first things are classified into groups, then the number of items in such groups becomes the number which signifies the meaning of the category.
For example in Islamic law things are classified into 5 categories: things you must not do, things you are advised not to do, things not pertaining to the law, things you are advised to do, and things you must do. This may have something to do with the fact that 5 signifies "Judgement" or "Justice" Biblically (but again not a lot is known about that), 2 signifies "work" in Ancient Egyptian culture and that was carried over into Christianity to signify the work of bringing the gospel.
Numbers have meaning depending on the philosoph or culture or wisdom literature you are talking about.
I could be wrong but 42 seems arbitrary in the context in which you use it.
Further I believe the Biblical numbers are derived from natural classifications that Egyptians had done. Classification can be an art and is it certainly a science.
I suspect 3 corresponds to "life", but more study is needed.
The number 666 is completely misunderstood because it is the number of the antichrist, it is derived from 2/3 of 1000 which is 2/3 aleph (ALP) which is AL "God", in otherwords the antichrist comes appearing as God, that is why the abomination of desolation is standing in the holy place as is prophesied.
The meaning of 6 can be discovered linguistically from either Ancient Hebrew or English or some other languages.

I do not know what a Numbe is,
But if the NUMBER 42 is the meaning of life and life is just the beginging... then I would assume that 2 would be the end of life... the end (last number) of 42.

if people are really foolish enough to accept 42 a the meaning of life then the number for the meaning of death is 8.
since 8 is infinity taking a break, and we would live forever had infinity not taking a break.

The japanese for 4 does not sound like death. The Chinese word for 4 sounds like death.
The number of death would probably be...dunno, the average human life span.
The number 42 is the Answer to life. not the meaning of life.
