First I wouldn't allow any of my kids to date at 14. However I do believe you should be allowed some room to grow. I would be fine with child at 14 going to the mall assuming I know who, where and when. I would also be the one picking them up. I also would have no issues with my 14 year old going to an early movie as long as, again, I know who they are going with, when is the movie starting and ending and which movie theater. I would also most likely be the one dropping her or him off and picking them back up. While I think you should be allowed to go places you have to understand that supervision is very important. I would honestly just try and sit down with your parents and discuss how you could earn the chance to have more freedom. Reassure them you have a good head on your shoulders and won't go crazy with your new found freedom. Be prepared though if you do get the freedom and break their confidence in you you will find yourself right back in the same boat. I would also recommend you talk to them without becoming irrational. You may be frustrated but parenting isn't easy. If you come at them with a immature mindset and behavior they are less likely to hear your point. I also wouldn't go around pointing at other kids saying they can do it why can't I. That doesn't help you argument in any way shape for form. They are right as well. A 14 year old doesn't need a cell phone. The ONLY reason we would buy our children a cell phone is because of their sport envolvement. It will also only be one that we can program with a couple of numbers. So you aren't alone on that one. I think it is rediculous how many young teens i see walking around with phones. I didn't have a cell phone until I was well in my 20's and paying for it myself. EDIT**just to let you know the person below me is one of the reason why your parents are being strict.
