My car is a 2003 Eclipse and has a serious vibration at 50mph and higher. The vibration is very noticable in the steering wheel but can be felt anywhere in the car. I thought I had a tire out of balance but that didn't help. I had the tires road forced balanced and that only helped slightly. A dealership said that I had bent rims and replacing them would fix it. Nope, I did that and it didn't help at all. I was then told my feul injectors may be clogged and I am running cleaner through them now but no results yet. What do you think it could be? The suspension, struts, bearings, tie rods, motor mounts, mis-firing cylinders? Any feedback would be greatly appriciated. Thanks

I just put brand new tires on it and the vibration does not go away at higher speeds. However it is not consistent. The magnitude of the vibration varies at the same speed. For instance, if I go 70 mph it may vibrate a little for a while and then it will may vibrate a lot for awhile. As long as the car is not vibrating the car does not pull to either side, but once the vibration starts it pulls to the left slightly. Thanks again.

my guess is a busted belt in one of your tires

How about your alignment or tires, try this next time you are at speed let go of the wheel and see if the car pulls hard to one side, if it does take your car in to check your alignment. If the Car vibrates at 50mph and not at a certain rpm you can rule any engine problems it must be in the suspention

hi ya i have had a simlilar thing happen to my HSV calias when i changed to a higher rated speed tyre. the people who changed the tyres had damaged a wheel bearing and a tie rod end sligthly, at speeds around town it was fine just pulled sligthly ( bent tie rod) but at higher speeds from about 55mph ( 85kph ) it would vibrate , like the wheels were out of blalance, at much higher speeds, 70mph (130kmp) it seemed to not vibrate as much then once passed this speed it would get so bad that it was hard or dangerous to drive, the wheel bearing was in good condition but just loose enough to make movement. also check for saging supension. hope you have some luck.

lets put aside the stupid people that think it is your alignment. all the alignment ddoes is check your toe, camber and caster. nothing at all to do with vibration. they may have not balanced them properly. however that vibration could be caused by many things. first of all check your cv axles, check for any tears, and listen for any pops. then, take it to a shop and check your upper and lower ball joints, tie rods, idler and pitman arms, and wheel bearings. all of these can cause vibration. but if i could put a finger on it, you probably went to a little tire shop, and didn't get them balanced. take it to another shop and check the tire balance. if this problem happened right after the replacement, then it has something to do with tires.

does the vibration go away at higher speeds?? could be misfiring have you changed the spark plugs recently? a road force balance would check for out of round tires or broken belts in the tires so thats not it... have you changed the wheels to aftermarket wheels if so check to see if they make hub centric rings that could be your problem as well

Front out of ailment, idyller arm worn, tie rod ends worn, CV joints worn or dry. Rotors out of balance, bad wheel bearing. rear wheels out of ailinment. Car out of alinment front to rear not likely put possible. Busted belt in tire especially if you have curbed a tire. (hit a curb or rubbed a curb with it). Tie rods bent.
You haven't hit or run over anything in the road have you? Or slammed hard into a pot hole? .

Take the car to an alignment shop and let them do a suspension inspection and check the alignment.

If it is the tires just get your spare out and replace one tire at a time and see what happens.
