annie oakley - if there are consequences for SAYING something stupid -then freedom of speech does not exist - that is a contradiction -that is like saying you are free to practice religion -just as long as it is the right religion -or you are free to vote for whoever you like just make sure he is democrat- it stops being free

That was the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard (well, close anyway). The speech wasn't any sort of hate speech or anything, and they had no right to be hauled off to jail. Luckily, they were released without charges, but I think that anyone who's offended by opposing viewpoints (like the people who whined about the shirts) really need to grow up.

And it happened on the Independence Day, too. Now that's ironic, isn't it!

This surprises you?? Remember who you are speaking about here, an arrogant contradictory fool who thinks he is dictator of the world. That's what happens when you put an incompetent corporate type in the Oval Office. They think that the country owes them obeisance, and have no idea how a democracy is supposed to work, because they are used to their orders being carried out without question. But no matter, come September his political existence will be put in severe jeopardy when the people demand an end to his farce in Iraq. The writing is on the wall. Now he will be forced to read it and obey the real movers and shakers of the American government - the voters, or his party will be shredded in the next general election.

The best part is that one of the reasons why protesters get removed from his speeches (this is not the first time) is outlined in the Presidential Advance Manual -

"demonstrators...if it is determined that the media will not see or hear" demonstrators, event staff can ignore them. But event staff must involve themselves in "designating a protest area preferably not in view of the event site or motorcade route."

Protect Bush's insular, narrow reality.

Freedom is now only for George!
He uses the word all the time.
Time for the men in white coats to come and take him away.

Of course, freedom of speech still exists.

What also exists are the consequences for saying something stupid.

Get it yet?
