I have only had carborated bikes, is fuel injection that much better? What should I buy and why

Today's fuel injection sasytems are far superior to anything else ever put out on the market. Computers control virtually everything now. If you are really serious, you can have everything mapped out to suit your particular riding style, or to the track, if you are racing. Even elevation changes are no big deal anymore. As far as what to buy, you are on your own, there pal. I don't know what kind of rider you are, so it would be foolish for me to try to recommend a bike for you. I would suggest you go to a dealer, or several dealers, and tell them exactly how you ride, and what you are looking for in a bike. You should get a bunch of tips from that.

Good luck, and keep the rubber on the road.

Stevo.

I can only say that my husband has owned many motorcycles (both carborated and fuel injected) and now that he is looking for yet ANOTHER motorcycle, he does NOT want carborated.... He prefers fuel injected 100% so there's got to be a good reason!

As you know the Federal government would like all vehicles on Fuel Injection (FI)
I can imagine it depends on the type of control you purchase. I believe my Yamaha RS Warrior has great factory FI set up. Tuneable by the dealership.
Power Commander makes a FI control that you can control from your own laptop computer, thereby adjusting the idle, midrange and top end fuel mix.
There is no need to work the throttle of a FI controled engine if set up properly. It starts well, idles fast for 15-30 seconds, then slow idles to your set point. Factory FI senses the engine temps, exhaust pressures, etc. to give you the proper mix for the best performance.
I personnaly like it.

Fuel injection is better by definition. That is the reason mostly everything is fuel injected now a days.

fuel injection is way better.. it starts easier and there is a constant flow of fuel.. you could drive your bike upside down because the gas won't dump out of the carb. And the mixture is controlled by a computer not with manual screws that constantly have to be adjusted.

fuel injection is much more effecient.it basically turn the key ,thumb the starter and you are off.no more messing with the choke and maybe getting 20 miles down the road and you found youve forgotten to push the choke back in.the only drawback is if you have done engine work or just changed the exhaust or air cleaner you will have to get the injection remapped.

Fuel injection is better but with a carburretor you can tinker if there is a problem.

fuel injection is far more better,it is all automatic, you never have to 'adjust or mess with it'no choke to have to pull to crank on cold mornings all auto!!!
all harleydavidsons now come fro the factory with furl injection,if you buy a new bike with it,leave it alone,it will adjust its self for conditions

Fuel injection is good, but still there is a lot to be for sitting there synching your carbs.

The only reason why all motorcycles and atv's aren't EFI is because a carb is way cheaper.
