Interesting and insightful inquiry. I over-analyze. It drives me nuts. I literally am mentally ill. Sometimes I wish I could stop thinking so much about things.
But I have a feeling you're also talking about people worrying or trying to conceive of all the "possibilities" and that if we sit down and just keep thinking of things that can go wrong, other dimensions possibly existing on the other side of our world's tapestry, or even all the diverse ways thing can be done that we literally are frozen and cannot act. Which is an act unto itself. So, I don't think it is society's job to distract us with entertainment. I think the entertainment industry is responding to our need to distract or dissociate for a period of time in which our mind can stop reviewing and predicting and can just "be". Without that need to dissociate, there would be no entertainment because there would not be a "market" for it. If we didn't need the "escape" from the limitless and overwhelming possibilities there are, we'd be perfectly happy without it. So are you saying that society is the one that is supposed to distract us just to keep us all relatively sane? And the means it uses is distraction? Or is it our need that is the driving force and we created society in order to do that for us? Would we need society if we didn't need distraction? I think we would still need society to provide order. But I think entertainment is the means we created on our own and it has become a part of society rather than society being the cause of entertainment.

My opinions, starting with: 'can you spend too much time thinking and maybe understand too much? '
Yes to that question.
Yes to the second.
I don't think so to, the third.
Yes, to the fourth.
I'm not sure, to the fifth, but it sound interesting.
No clue, to the sixth.
Because if more people were crazy then they wouldn't be crazy they would be sane and the rest of the people would be crazy,.. to the seventh.
It kinda feels like it to me sometimes, to the eighth.
No clue, to the ninth.
Because more people ignore it,..to the tenth.
I don't know the answer to that last one but it's a very good question...I guess society could have a job and not even know it.
Awesome questions by the way!

How far can you open your mind before your brains fall out? A lot depends on the mental gymnastics you go through. An open mind seldom results in insanity. That sort of thing happens to closed minded people unprepared for the challenges of reality. One is only as small as the limits of one's world. Craziness is the inability to distinguish between the flood and the distinct streams of consciousness of a rational mind. It is possible to be open and still be discerning, indeed that ability is a prerequisite of true open-mindedness. Entertainment be d@mned! Society has better things to do.

Well yes I like how you put entetainment as something that is to blame it's sometimes not thought of in those terms. I think that from what you've written here is why a lot of people don't like to think of lot of things. On the other hand a lot of people are discourged to think like this. Like you must be high to think of things like this.
I think it is very fasicting to think like this but just like anything else it's not really a good thing to think like this all the time. Just like it's not a good thing to think of sex all the time. Why not it's something that the human race needs to conitue on. Well yes of course it is something that we need as an animal but I think that the major thing about sex is that you become obessed with it. And it can ruin your life. At the same time it depends on what you are calling entertainment are you just calling movies and such or realtity shows. Because as much as I support that there are some forms of entertainment that are necessary in order for us to realate to our fellow man.
If you don't crazy by the time that you 27 then you probally will never go crazy. Society in general doesn't like people that think outside of the box. Although this isn't all that far outside of the box because I have heard of things like this. That might be part of the problem with a person going made is that even with some sound ideas people question your judgement like a mad man saying hundered of years ago I hear voices in my head. Well I do to it's called headphones.
But since the mind is a muscle there probally are limits to what we can know there is knowable and unknowable. And with that muscle there it probally needs to be streached out before it can trully understand all the concepts that you are presesting here good question.

i think of it relies upon on the two the circumstances and the guy in touch no count if one is open or closed minded. case in point there might properly be some very closed minded human beings, properly i be attentive to three, who're very tolerant (notably much to the factor of open mindedness, you may think of), merely because of the fact of who the different individual is. this is one occasion of the place an exception to the guideline applies. yet for the main area you like the two merely like warm and chilly interior the actual realm of thermodynamics. For with out the interaction between warm and chilly or opposites, existence could become stagnant and entropy. that doesn't be a real mirrored image on existence. So interior the tip I do renowned the existence of the two instruments of minds. And on the comparable time observe the exceptions and the organic results of the interaction that occurs between them. Society as an entire does flow forward. that's what i think of.

You are asking really disconcerting questions !
LOL. If you open your mind too much, you will get inundated with senseless information.
So-- close the mind. No more input until this load has been processed?
If only we can do that.
Unfortunately, some knowledge and experience just stay there undigested, like shopping bags where you leave the things you "bought" in the closet where it stays until you decide to clean your closet.
Ugh.

When you stop questioning reality...you are insane in my books!lol
Yes some are considered insane for this...it's a pretty great bunch though, would you like a membership card?
The cards kind of look like your question...they come in many tangible and imaginable forms.......
mine looks like a universe infinitely inward and infinitely outward...in every possible universe

I think that one CAN "live too much in his/her head."
Thinking TOO much can drive you bonkers - it did that to me about 38 years ago, after I got back from Vietnam.
T.S. Eliot thought so, too:
"Go, go, go, said the bird: human kind
Cannot bear very much reality.
Time past and time future
What might have been and what has been
Point to one end, which is always present."

it is true!
if you open your mind too much your brain can fall out.
there is such a thing as being too open minded.
some people are too open minded that they never trust their own decisions, every time something new comes up, they quickly throw away what they just had. it can end up being unreasonable.

Yes, and in such cases, one is allowing themselves to be very vulnerable to suggestions and no longer in control of themselves.
