It depends on if second best is good enough for you. Maybe you don't need/want any more than what second best has to offer.

Is it possible? If you go for the second best, will you be contented - will you be settled? I assume you yourself have decided what is best and what is second best, and if this is so clear in your mind you will probably always doubt yourself.
If we are talking about a person then it certainly is WRONG, as doubting your own choice would be doubting an other person as well. You should not put yourself into that position.
If we are talking about your performance, then you probably never settle but always move on, there will always be the next time.
If we are talking about material things you should choose what is ecologically best and what you can afford. Then "the best" is a question of point of view.

is it wrong to be the 3rd best....i know its lower the second...if you were the first. I don't think it would matter. But willingly I don't know about that. It's like say would i be willingly to be the second best? I wouldn't mind.

Yes especially if you are worthy and deserving to be the best. Why do you need to settle for second best. You should fight for your right otherwise things might get wrong for such an acceptance. The best will always be the best but not second best.

Unless the second best in others eyes is the best in your eye, or you can't have the best, why should you WILLINGLY settle for second best?

I would say that if there is dignity, within you, and you would not like to be Second best, when you are sure you are a better person than the one they chose, I would say do not settle for Second best.

best
you are saying best
then why not?
whats about first?.
have you lost it?
that's why you are prefering second one
perhaps first was not for you
and second might be for you.
if you clearly define the matter then it becomes very easy for us to give you such advices which are based on our experiences.
well
do ..
if you think there is nothing wrong in it.
but this word 'wrong ' is not justifying the situation
it seems you want to have second but there is something ceasing you to have second.
why are you settling for second than first?
do comparison whichever clicks you ,go for it.

No, it's not wrong.
Not if you know that it is the BEST thing to do. Especially, when by choosing to settle for second best, you allow someone else to be THE BEST and thus give them the confidence and opportunity they need to open their wings and fly. :-)
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND :-)

The message I am getting here is that perhaps what you think of as second best is the best by far after all. You might want to have another look at it. Just a thought. Cheers.

Even though I try to do my best being second best is not a bad thing. I'm not perfect and can't be the best at everything. I gave it my best shot. It keeps life interesting and challenging. At least I tried and I placed which is better than not trying at all. I've got a lot of learning and growing to do yet.

yes, it is because settling for second best means that you do not value yourself very much. nobody should settle for second best, they should only make the choice of what is best for them. It's about having self worth, know that you are worth the very best not second best. You are you and nothing but the best should be foe you and everyone else. People should value themselves and their lives.
