There are several cleaners available. You should be able to find Brasso at just about any grccery store near . Never dull wadding can be found at any auto parts store I have ever been to but takes a little rubbing. I used to sell a product called Brite Boy in my janitorial supply in Ca. which I thought was the best copper cleaner.

Taco Bell hot sauce will clean copper real well. Try coating an old penny with it let it sit for a few minutes and it is shiny. Actually any kind of vinegar will clean copper pretty well.

you can buy stuff at you local grocery store that is made just for cleaning copper. It is kinda fun to use because it works so well. last time i did it I was polishing pennies and everything else made of copper i could find.

baking soda and water mixed into a paste. wont scratch either.
