His status as a federal employee does have a bearing...you cannot garnish the wages of a federal employee. You should ask a lawyer about attaching your ex's bank account. You can, with the judgment, report it to the the three major credit agencies and affect him that way. Also, you might be able to file a lien against his name which would appear on any property and would have to be "satisfied" before he could sell anything.

Are you allowed to garnish his wages?

I would contact an attorney and find out if there is anyway you could get a judgement against him or how you could go about having a warrant issued.

There are organizations in your state that can help you get things started. Read the link below. I think you can collect his tax returns. There are a lot of programs out there now that are trying to find dead beat dads and moms.

Go to google.com or ask.com and search out "collecting delinquent child support" in your state.

Do a private billing, then a Notarial Protest - take the Certificate of Default to a District Court by Ex Parte Default Judgment and then once granted - use the court to send a sheriff to his house and auction it off with his car and/or etc. untilt he bill is paid.

His status as a government employee has no bearing. Get a lawyer and take him to court. Specify to the lawyer that you want attorney fees paid also since it is his fault you need to seek court action.

What sensible-man said, but take it one step further, have the lawyer get a garnishment on his wages. The money is taken out and sent to you before he gets his pay. It's like having taxes taken out.
