Why does it seem like every black person in North Texas acts as if its their born destiny to be a thug? Its not only them, its the hispanics and the white people too. I am by no means a "racist", but I cant stand the trashy people I see all the time. Dont call me stuckup, call me decent.

Cant wait til I have the means to move to a pleasant location where I can enjoy the absence of the atrocious noise these car stereo systems make (BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! A deep, thunderous, rumbling roar is all I hear anymore coming from the cars of these wannabe gangsters. Have they no ambitions in life? Is all they want to do is work part time at wendys saving money for some shiny rims to put on their broken down car?). I want to live in a small city out in the middle of nowhere where people are focused on being nice to each other instead of robbing convenient stores at gun point. Where people are humble instead of treating everyone else like subsidiaries. Where everyone speaks the same language. Sounds like a dream, but I sure as hell aint gonna find it here.

Tonight I dream big. Big, polluted, hopeless dreams.

Let me clear something up. I used the word "seem" (why does it SEEM like every black...). I used the word to avoid making a broad generalization. Im not being racist, Im being honest, it seems as if every black person I meet (and its direcetd at blacks because they are the majority here) has a rotten, thuggish attitude and a look to go with it. I hate white people who have a rotten, thuggish attitude as well. Its not being racist.

I know not every black/white/hispanic person is a thug (I never said they were), Im only speaking from the perspective of the area I live in. If you drive down the street with your windows down, rap blairing where you can hear it three blcoks down, you are dressed like trash and are giving people dirtly looks as if that makes you a hardass, than you are a filthy wannabe no matter you skin color.

Raalnan5 - I agree, I would never use the term "acting black".

BUNNIES - Im not a bigot. I hate thugs, whether they're white, black, purple or orange. I dont think its too much to ask that people not have a rotten aura all the time.

Why is it that when I am annoyed by peoples rotten attitudes, and than I voice my discontent about it, Im a bigot? Sounds like you're the bigot (BUNNIES).

I think that 10 years from now, the whole hip hop thug thing will be view much in the same way as disco. Personally, I think every one is prejudiced. There are different types of prejudices and different types of racism. The person who says "I would vote for anyone who is black" is as prejudiced as the person who says "I would never vote for anyone who is black." One discriminates, the other panders. About you, I couldn't say for sure, I have never met you, but I agree that "thugs" are useless, and I am black. I also hate how "thugs" are always said to be "acting black" That, to me marks a true racist.

I think it was your generalization. Are there serious problems within the black and hispanic communities? Yes. But, your opening sentence sounded as if ALL people of these races were like that.

Remember, if you have an opinion about a person, a people or a culture, don't generalize the whole along with the few. Every culture has it's down-side. Would it be fair of me to say that all white Texans are rednecks? No - because I know that is not true. Are there rednecks in TX? Yes, and we even have some here in Jersey.

There are ways to raise a question or an observation without putting it in a way that sounds bigoted or prejudice (unless you are Archie Bunker). Just consider that the whole is not to be judged by the few.

Yes. Your very first sentance is prejudiced "Why does it seem like every black person in North Texas acts as if its their born destiny to be a thug? Its not only them, its the hispanics and the white people too" - do you have evidence for this, or are you extrapolating from previous experience?

Because that's prejudiced, as you are pre judging people before knowing them.

As for whether it's racist, I don't think so - as you're applying it to all "wannabe gangsters" regardless of race.

Dear Decent,

I really believe I would move. Get on a bus and get out of there. I would never stay in a place like that. Life is too short to feel threatened 24-7. Move out into the country, work on a farm. Breathe fresh air, and surround yourself with nice people. God Bless.

I agree 100%. It's not being predudice, its being realistic. I hate those kinds of people too, not just blacks or hispanics. And its not just in North Texas, I live in Tampa, FL and its everywhere too. Move up north towards conneticut or massachussetts.

You arent prejudice you are just ignorant of the fact that all black people arent thugs or murders or rapist. If you get to know us first then you will see us for who we really are and not what society potrays us to be. and that goes for any race and culture.

Sounds like you were just having a good old rant- if you bundle a whole section of society into one category you can't be suprised if people take it less than genially though.

It was a perfectly legitimate complaint until you mentioned the language...sorry, that does sound racist.

People can speak different languages and still be very polite, courteous, good citizens, etc.
