How about if we ask that way - then we can skip all the evacuation and ignoring offers of help excuses.

http://www.cnn.com/2005/WEATHER/08/28/katrina.doomsday/index.html here's the expert telling us before it struck that he was thinking about it, so he is not covering his butt by revealing that Bush knew the levees were cracking and yet told no one.

Here's the article which explains what Bush knew and when and what he didn't do:

CNN is totally biased for the White House. Watch a time or two and you will see. Specifically - I watched Wolf Blitzer tell Pakistani President Musharaff that M. didn't really mean it when he said a few years ago thatt the Iraq invasion was wrong. Then, they went to commercial and M. was gone and Blitzer told us that the Pakistani embassy wanted to clarify M's remarks to say he didn't 'categorically' state the invasion was a mistake.

Anyone who thinks CNN is liberal is not paying attention. And, BBC and Greg Palast are very reliable sources.

Yes, we knew the levees were in poor condition, but what the scientist says is that during the storm, the feds became aware that the levees were actually cracking and told no one. Why? To save money, and because they don't really care (obviously) if people die.

Annie, what's your proof that it's a lie?

The state police would have been assisting in the evacuation; closing the highways inbound, directing traffic, etc.

In addition, no one on the ground in LA was told, the feds allegedly kept the knowledge to themselves.

You are quoting an article on a liberal blog that names its source as "This is what an inside source told me". Very credible. And CNN is unbiased as well.

Are any of you aware that the Mafia set up business in New Orleans just after the War of Northern Aggression? And that many of those levees were built with mob-controlled construction crews, bleeding millions of dollars off for Carlos Marcello? And that the Italian mob does not care, and never HAS cared, for the ***** population, which were still considered animals to be exploited for heroin use in the '60's? Want to look for blame? Try the corrupt officials in the most corrupt city in America!

Did you know the everybody knew New Orleans would flood if it was hit by a big hurricane? Did you know National Geographic did a huge article on it 6 months before Katrina hit. Did you know that nobody did anything to try to fix the problem. Hundreds of people let down New Orleans, not just Bush

ALSO*** what exactly would the "state police" have done?

Did you know that Johnson tried to get the levees fixed in 1967 but that the environmentalists wouldn't let him?
Did you know that the French engineers who originally surveyed the land said it was the worst place possible to put a city?
The LA state police were probably like the cowardly NO police and had already booked.

Since Bush was in California at the time, don't you think that perhaps just a few more people knew than the President who was 5 states away?

All problems do not stem from Bush or can be blamed on Bush. He was no where near New Orleans when levees broke, so I doubt he was withholding this information. New Orleans has an inept corrupt local government that has ducted blame because they are black.

And you believe this propaganda is the truth?? Engineers had been telling govt. officials in New Orleans for years that the levees were weak and unsafe. WHY didn't they act to protect their own citizens?? Oh well, we all know that whenever and wherever disasters happen it's Bushes fault.

Not possible.
If Bush is as stupid as liberals like you say he is there is no way he could know what people who were in in New Orleans didn't know.
Think about it...

The only surprise about Katrina was that it hadn't happened sooner.

New Orleans had been headed for disaster for at least 100 years before it finally happened.

amazing is right - the state knew they had issue w/ new orleans way before the hurricane - but I also agree that the federal response was less than what an American should expect when their taxes are paying for FEMA
