I used to give to a certain charity, but have since stopped since I did a lot or research on charities and this particular one scores very poorly on GuideStar, Give.com, and Charity Navigator with respect to how they handle the incoming money they receive.

So I've now written them 6 times to stop mailings to me, and have even contacted the DMA, and the DMA has contacted them twice, but still I get solicitations about once a week. This is over about 9 months time, so they have had ample time to
update their mailing lists.

I know I can just recycle the mail, but I'd like to get them to stop if for no other reason than to save a few trees.

Any other ideas?

Thanks.

Stuff all the junk they sent you back in to the reply envelope (plus any other handy junk mail) and send it back to them. Include a nice note asking them to stop sending you junk.

If that does not work, get a brick. Glue the reply mail envelope to brick. Include in the envelope instructions to stop sending you junk. Drop the brick in a mailbox at the post office.

The first answer works great as Andy Rooney came up with - but, you can also just send them back a bunch of play money - and let them know it was from you ... they will probably get the message and remove your name from the list.

Write "Deceased, please remove from mailing list" on the front of the envelope. Then mail it. Don't send it out from your home, as your mailperson will then hold all your mail. Mail it from a mailbox, or take it to the post office and mail it.
This does work. I have done it myself.
Good luck.

call them acting as a relative and tell them you are dead and it makes you cry when they send you things with your dead son's daughter name on it..
