because most people have a lot more going on in their lives than they did back 100 years ago. back then we never left the state to get a job, we always stayed where we were raised.

TV, internet, cell phones, media and music that promote selfishness. This is my OPINION though. The key word is that it's my "opinion."
Getting more more more, bigger bigger bigger, richer richer seems to be the key to so many peoples agenda's these days. It only makes sense that when we, as people, put our worth in materialistic things, media and celebritites that we would lose our values.
Funny how we have cell phones now, EVEN the GREAT
I-PHONE, yet people can't even return a simple phone call.
Funny that we have email for better convenience, but people are too lazy to return email. It makes me think of the person who is too lazy to change the TV channel because they don't want to get the remote control that was left on the table.
Not to mention, when we have music that promotes getting richer and playing with the opposite sex's emotions while "getting as much as you can" and TV shows like Desparate House Wives, Wife Swapping etc, it's only natural to see that Family and Home would be wrecked.
Greed is going to mess us all up. Don't misunderstand greed with motivation and determination to succeed. You know what I mean when I say Greed.

I live within walking distance of 4 of my 5 sisters. I saw one of them for the first time in 2 years today. People are to busy making a living to spend time with the extended family nowadays. My wife's family who all live within a couple of miles of each other have an unofficial meet up at their mothers on a Sunday. She is in her late seventies now and when she goes we will only see each other at hatches matches or dispatches.

I think it is because people spend less time doing things as a family and more people are moving away from their hometowns, so are much more spread out. While communication has got easier for those away, lives have also got busier.

People are to busy. Life is whizzing by too quickly. Modern technology is consuming us and keeping us preoccupied and away from the people we need to be around. I read an article lately about how some people are so overwhelmed w/ the chaos in the world around them that whenever they get a chance they "cocoon" at home for some relief to get away from people and the confusion ouside their front door. This world is just crazy anymore.

I think it's selfishness and being too busy to cultivate relationships. TV, videos, games, movies and other gadgets have taken up our time and attention to the point that we don't know how to interact on a personal level so much anymore.
