What is the point of us being here on earth?
Is there anyone else out there or are we the only, lonely things in the whole, huge universe?
Is there a God?
How did the universe come into being?
Here are some questions that I ponder at night, wondering if there is even a point for me to ask them.

Hehe.... I should be the worlds youngest philosipher. :P

The meaning and point of life is life itself. Life means change. That which doesn't change dies. The definition of death is the absence of change. Yes there is a God, and yes, a world He created. We are not alone. No one lives to self alone. The universe came into being by the Word of God. What we know of the universe shows both expansion from a central reality and entropy, time curving and slowing down at the edges. All things are wonderful both in their simplicity and complexity. The infinitesimally minute world of sub-atomic particles and the vast expanse of galaxies both show a wondrous order of a provident intelligence. Evolution is comprehended in the divine miracle of DNA's double helix. God put into being all that is and all that shall be, it all shows His handiwork. Man is the unique respondent of the world we know, its master and explorer. God made Man in His image and likeness, male and female. The morality of man is the determinant of man's continued existence and final destiny. We are accountable for the heaven or hell we bring about in God's world. (The word Man is not gender specific, it refers to the thinking nature of our species.) We can either live in harmony or enmity with God and the world. As our knowledge reaches beyond the limits of our immediate environment we come to know more of the greatness of God and His power as Creator, infinite, limitless, and marvelous.
God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God and God in them. Love is the energy of life, the unmistakable evidence of the presence and purpose of the creator and His will for us. Our freedom is shown in our power to grow in love, making life-giving choices in response to God. It is only those who love the people God made who truly love God. Those who say they love God while hating the people around them are liars. The miracle of procreation in which we lose ourselves in uniting with a person of the opposite sex is the stupendous moment God allows us to become more complete and share in the creation of another soul. That new life is part of our own immortality and an exclamation point to God's opinion the world should go on.

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

The fact that you are pondering these things and asking about them means you are very intelligent. In a nut shell-
We are not this material body, IE; Race, color, nationality, Religion, mind, intellect, senses, job, etc. We are all eternal spirit souls, part and parcel of the Supreme Soul, also known as Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, etc. We never die, only this mortal body dies.
This material world is not our real home, it is called Maya (illusion) and is temporary and full of misery, only one fourth of the souls come here, and the rest are enjoying blissful eternal loving relationships with our Maker named above. There is no love if thier is not free will. So that is why the material world was created so we could express our free will and live seperate from God. Those who are done with all this material illusion after many births in this world seek out the way home. Those who are intelligent, take up the process of self realization (Bhakti Yoga) Which culminates in chanting the holy name (th Maha mantra is the most recommended process, which gives one real peace, happiness and reality. Then at the end of life they can return to the eternal Kingdom where there is no more birth, death, old age, or disease and be eternally happy.
For info. Go to harekrishnatemple.com Read Bhagavad Gita- As it is by Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada asitis.com you can read it on line. you can write me for a direct link to info on the Mantra. I love it.

Sometimes everyone thinks of things such as these questions. This place has been created by a God. There is one no matter what belief you are. It's amazing how we take such things for granted and never stop and appreciate them. Life is very precious everything that lives, will soon die one day. Sad but true. We are here to serve as human beings and children of God. We are here to do good things with our life to love, live, and learn from all experiences. Questions such as how why etc. is things we just don't question we just know it exists and we live with it. God exists, he created this world, created us, and wants happiness for all. That's all there is too it!

Life is one long mystery. The point is, do you waste your time figuring out WHY or do you spend your time productively, thinking of ways to make a better life for yourself and those who follow you.

I believe we were given reasoning and logic for a purpose. And that purpose is the greater good for all mankind and the planet and its creatures.

It is up to you to decide if you will waste the precious little time you have on earth, or if you will be proud at the end of your life ... that you spent the time in a way that will make you think back on it and smile.

Good luck ....

Remember: Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Today is a Gift. That is why they call it the "present".

Your question, "what is the point of us being here on earth", is meaningless unless there is a God who put us here with a purpose.

“Unless you assume a God, the question of life’s purpose is meaningless.” –Bertrand Russell

So we can't make our own purpose for being here on earth unless we claim to have created ourselves.

If there is no God, then our entire existence is pointless. All we can do is to keep busy so we won't think about it.

But I figure that if God exists, then He must have put our need for meaning into our human nature to get us to seek Him.

Life is how the Goddess gives meaning to the universe.

This is the only question I know to which the truest answer is, "Because that's the way it is."

Life is for living. It's to be, to do, to make. To dance, to laugh...to cry, to make love, pet the cat, and learn how to spell supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

It's to ask questions, and search for the answers. It's to doubt the gods, and to trust them It's experience.

And it's different for everyone.
