i dont get how to do this freaken problen, but dont get me wrong im very smart in math but i dont get this. so can someone plz help me

-2x-x=5
-3x=5
x=-5/3

if you couldn't figure it out i might be because you overlooked these things: minus is the same as adding a negative and you can always put a 1 in front of x and you can combine the x's

well -2x - x = -3x

therefore -3x = 5

you can reverse the signs of the equation to get

3x = -5
x = -5/3
x = -1.6

Thats what i reckon the answer is

-2x - x = 5
-3x = 5
x = -5/3

What's the issue? That's about as easy as they come. Did you write the problem correctly?

-2x-x=5
-2x and x are similar, so subtract
-3x=5
divide both sides of the equation by -3
x=(-5/3)
