The traditional fields for comm grads are journalism, advertising, broadcasting, technical writing, and teaching.
That said, every business needs people who communicate well orally and in writing. Not some businesses, every business. The ability to make a quality presentation very often makes the difference between a sale and wasted time. The ability to present a company in the best light makes the difference of how that company is seen.
It's also true that most people don't have those skills. People who do have those skills who also have a vocational skill are generally in very high demand.
For example; a comm major with a biology or health minor is set up for a lucrative career in pharm sales. A comm major with a business minor is set up for all manner of careers including management.
A comm major with a music minor would be set to enter entertainment writing. A comm major with a computer minor is set up for writing tech manuals.
The point here is to make sure you have some background in something other than just comm. to set you apart from the rest. Be a comm major but also be "the comm major that knows history" for example. That's where the real money is - subject matter experts that know how to communicate about their subject.

Tons. It kind of depends on your emphasis, but you can do PR, broadcasting, journalism, business, marketing, and so forth.
You will want to get some kind of internship in the field you want to go into, or at least have an emphasis, however, since communications is such a broad degree.

I majored in Communications (graduated 7 yrs ago.) My advice: pair your major with a "marketable" minor (mine was Human Resources.) I got my foot in the door at a good company in HR and worked in recruiting for 3 years. Then, thru networking at the company, I got a job in the Communications/Public Relations Dept. and was a media responder for another 3 years. Thru more networking now I have a job in the Public Affairs (governmental relations) dept. running our company's political action committee. People always say "there's no money in communications" but you can do pretty good for yourself if you make lots of good connections.
