As a moderate I rarely support the death penalty however I think that all first degree murder convictions should result in a mandatory life without sentence. As a citizen do you agree with me or do you think that more sentencing considerations should be given to this offense?

Personally, I think life in jail is a worse sentence. The criminal would wake up every day knowing there was nothing else except those walls around him/her. Killing a killer really just lets them off the hook in a way.

I also dont agree with the death penalty for murder, mostly because its not severe enough to let he person off by dying. Now granted each case has diferent circumstances however incarceration without parole in my mind is a better punishment for those who have no regard for life.

This is a difficult question, because all murders in my opinion , even premeditate are committed for different reasons. If you have a murderer who in there mind is killing because in there mind its right to kill, they think that's its in there nature, then yes these people should be left in prison for life, however lets say that a abused wife who has suffered for years at the hands of a violet husband premeditates her husbands death, should she stay in prison for life, or the abused child that in adult life decides that only by killing there abuser will they be free from them. In my opinion the laws and court system we have today have been build up over hundreds of years of trail and error and we as a society must put our faith in the wisdom of the judges to place offenders in prison for a correct time. The only problem i have is that over here in England if someone if sent to prison for say 10 years they will serve only 5 years for good behavior then let out on license which means if they re-offend they get sent back to serve the new sentence plus the 5 years from the old sentence. I would like to see the system chanced so that full sentence is carried out than license is granted for half of the original sentence meaning if they re offend then they get the new sentence plus half of old sentence.

Yes, I prefer life without parole for convicted murders. I think living the rest of your life in prison is far more punishment then being executed.
