4a - 6 = 5 + 6a
4a - 6 - 6a = 5 + 6a - 6a
-2a - 6 = 5
-2a - 6 + 6 = 5 + 6
-2a = 11
-2a / -2 = 11 / -2
a = -11 / 2 = -5.5

Its simple algebra!
All u gotta do is solve for the variable which in this case is "a".
Now here we go:
Note: Before solving, make a note that we always put like terms on one side of the equation)
So..
=> 4a - 6 = 5 + 6a
=> 4a - 6a = 5 + 6
=> -2a = 11
Now divide both sides by -2 and u get:
=> -2a/-2 = 11/-2
=> a = -11/2
And thas ur answer!
Reminder: 11/-2 or -11/2 are the same thing. You could put the minus sign anywhere as long as the signs dont cancel with each other!)

4a - 6 = 5 + 6a
Trnspose 4a
4a - 6 - 4a = 5 + 6a - 4a
Collect like terms
- 6 = 5 + 2a
Transpose 5
- 6 - 5 = 5 + 2a - 5
- 11 = 2a
Divide both sides of the equation by 2
- 11 / 2 = 2a / 2
- 11/2 = a
- 5 1/2 = a
- 5.5 = a

Isolate the variable.
4a - 6 = 5 + 6a
4a = 5+ 6 + 6a
4a = 11 + 6a
4a - 6a = 11
-2a = 11
a = - 5.5

The easiest way is to combine like terms. Subtract 4a from both sides and 5 from both sides and you get;
4a-4a-6-5 = 5-5+6a-4a or
-11=2a
Divide both sides by 2 and you have your answer:
-11/2 = a
