You should just READ it--it's one of the greatest contemporary fiction works ever.

I agree with the others. This book is not only great, it's totally hilarious. My teenage son, who does not like to read, loved it.
Even if there are sparknotes or cliff's notes, there's no way they could capture the essence of this book. As for even considering such a thing, you "should be lashed without mercy!"

All I know is that the guy killed himself because he spent years and years trying to get it published--then (after his death) it won a Pulitzer.
