My neighbour sends rude notes through the door without reason, swears at me in passing and vandalizes my garden. I haven't contacted the police or anyone else as I'm afraid of a reaction from the neighbour, also I still have to live next to them.

Oh no you don't have to do any such thing. You can be moved by your council if you are under threat.

Save the notes and let the police see them. Do not touch them if you can help it. This way you cannot be accused of writing them yourself. Just in case your tormentor comes up with that little gem. If you do have touch them make sure it is minimal. Personally I wouldn't even bother to read them now at this stage as you must know what this persons handwriting looks like by now and you are only tormenting yourself.
Ask the police for a copy of them to send to your council. Inform the police and council of every threat made whether it is written or verbal. Try to make sure you have witnesses to any verbal ones. Sit back and let them hang themselves. You will have the last laugh in the end.

P.S. If this is happening to someone else near you by the same person. Get them on side.

Good Luck!!

I have just moved from a house where my neighbour was pretty sick. We used to get bread and fruit and veg thrown over our fence, oranges thrown at the car and front windows.
One day the TV aerial wire had been pulled off the roof. They took my trellis down while I was away, hacked my climbers to pieces, and attempted to poison my dogs.
When I confronted them I was told "you can't prove it " or words to that effect. I went to the Police, but they said I should fit CCTV like I got that sort of money to throw around. In the end we moved. People like that always come unstuck in the end.
If you can get CCTV then that could result in an ASBO, otherwise I would move, and watch the newspapers for their demise at a distance. ( you dont live in Wiltshire do you ? )
Just out of interest ?

Unfortunately you dont have many options but you can get onto the council and they will serve a notice on this is a new law that doesnt tollerate this kind of behaviour any more also you could speak with the police at your local station and they will give you better advise than me but dont be worried and keep all the evidence you get

You cannot live like this why should you?....you have to do something what would you prefer to say something to the police or live in constant fear and like a prisoner in your own home....you should before it gets way out of hand...it really couldn't get any worse than how you are living now....besides if you say nothing and this neighbour decides to react worse there is nothing on paper no complaints you wouldn't have a leg to stand all because you said nothing.... act now you cannot live this way... i wish you luck with this.

The first thing to do is to keep a file with all of the messages in it. Try to handle them as little as possible. (Use plastic gloves, chopsticks, tongs or a tissue & place them in a plastic bag). Take photographs of your garden (before & after), especially if you actually see him actively damaging your property (photograph him in the act, but be discreet). Make a list of all the incidences, in chronological order. Make a copy for yourself, then visit the police station & ask to speak to a detective. Explain your situation & tell him/her you fear retaliation/escalation. Ask them for advice. Good luck.

youve said you have to live there so you cant move etc..running away isnt alway s the best thing but is the easiest. You need to tell him if you get any more abuse you will report him to the police, i know its scary but you cant let him get away with this anymore.

Put it in a letter..maybe get yourself a nice big dog for protection too :)

you need to find out what is making them do this you can either go round yourself with a friend and ask them or show the notes to the police and get them to mediate and see if you can resolve the problem. if they still keep being a pain in the bum, .... knock em out !... only joking get the police to go back round and sort them out.

that's not good, i mean i totally understand why u wouldn't want to tell the police. i think u should get like a great dane or a german shepard or something, and make him mean and vicious to that guy and that guy only. or maybe even two gaurd dogs. in fact, i think u should just move.
