Due to me putting a bad gasket between the throttle body and engine a small amount of coolant made its way into the engine. Now there is white smoke coming out of tail pipe and car idles very rough. Only ran it for a second, will it burn away? What should I do?

Remove spark plugs and crank over to ensure that you will not "hydraulic" the engine (bend a con rod as water is incompressible) and refit. A little bit of water through the inlet tract should not cause oil contamination but check your dipstick carefully - an oil change could be done if undecided.

Any coolant in the exhaust will just evaporate away.

Personally I would change the oil immediately. If the amount is as little as you say than it shouldnt hurt anything. Also change that gasket asap! Oh I would also look at your local autoparts store and see what they offer as far as an internal cleaner, Heck, even mention it to the professionals behind the counter. They get first hand testimonials on almost everything they sell and could probably tell you what works best.

You should take out the spark plugs and spray starter fluid into the holes then turn the engine over for 10 seconds without the spark plugs that will remove all of the moisture. Don't try to just let it run without getting it out you can fubar the engine.
