Americans have long been hated the world over. Why?
Certainly not because of Iraq!! Its is due to the fact that when Americans travel to foreign countries, they do not act like guests, and/or respect anything about the country they are travelling in. They take their ignorant bullshit TO the other country and act in the typical OBNOXIOUS, Disrectful manner they do while IN the US. Its time this stopped!! Just the other day, after having to deal with a friggin jerk in traffic, SURE enough when he finally did get in front of me...US plates!!

Christ, NO WONDER I thought to myself..an AMERICAN IDIOT!!

So my question is: WHEN are americans going to start acting like guests when the travel abroad??

Maybe NEVER!!!!

My sister's brother in law actually went to Ireland and was pissed they didn't speak like him. And when he came to the bahamas (where I family is from) he was pissed it wasn't JUST LIKE HOME?????

The American tourist are the worst on the whole. Always complaining about how things are better at home....THEN GO HOME!!!!

Gotta agree with a lot of what you're saying. It's a simple thing to read up on the do's and don'ts when you travel to other countries (not to mention learn enough of the language to carry on a basic conversation), but most americans don't seem to realize the need to bother. Then they come home and tell everyone how rude the french are, for example (hint: when travelling to Paris say "bonjour monsieur/madame" when entering a place of business like the French do and you won't have to deal with "rudeness.")

This is funny ha ha. You raised a question sometime ago about a warrant of arrest against you in the US for speeding.
Not acting like a "Guest"?
I live in you guessed right Africa I get to to meet people from all over . Despite the stereotype people try to portray of the US . Visitors from other countries are often more arrogant and rude than they are. We all meet jerks in traffic daily, if you wait long enough it will be from the people you love to hate. That is how racism works

I'm American, and sadly I know what you are talking about. I live in Europe. One that really gets me is when they expect everyone to speak English, and then get upset because they don't or it's not very good...yet, they never stop to think that they should learn the official language of the country they are visiting. Heck, at least learn how to say the simple frases and maybe "Do you speak English?" in their language.
