I find it so difficult to meet a lot of gay men who are real and would like to do things other than sex when we first meet. I do not drink and the bars are a swamp land anyway, I would love some advice from as many as I can and I will be greatful and I am very serious with this question. what do young people do?

I'm in a gay book club, and if I wasn't already partnered, that'd be a good place to start- depending on your interests and location, I know there are also gay gardening, car, camping, and sports clubs. At least it gives you a chance to get to know someone a little first. Another option is to volunteer at a gay community center, or for a gay helpline... heck, it worked on Mambo Italiano. Though I met my guy in a "swamp land" five years ago- a loud, crowded dance club in Detroit- so it is possible.

If where you live is large enough to have a LGBT center, they probably have lists of groups for LGBT people like: bowling teams, cyclists, campers, pot luck circles (for guys who like to cook), religious groups, volleyball teams, softball teams, book clubs, theater clubs, and the like.
By joining any of these or several of them, you get to meet men with similar tastes as yourself, which could lead to a deeper relationship. And even if you don't meet someone there, you're networking. Those guys have friends too!
I agree with you on bars. If you want (or sometimes need) a quick lay, then fine - that's what a bar is for. And that has its place, but being with someone you like all evening watching a good movie on TV, or cooking together (I love to cook), or just chatting beats getting liquored up for a quickie.

Loads of ways. my boyfriend is 38 and im only 22 and we love spending time so there is hope out there! just ask someone out cos in my experience the young ones are more nervous about asking someone out and the older ones are bolder. treat them right and give them a lot of love and u will get loads back -
good luck! not sure how old u are though so its hard to give specifics. but young people like to go to clubs and bars, i also love going to the zoo/aquarium, museums, and touristy things in london cos i havent lived here long and not seen all of it.

The gay world has little room or time for we wrinkle queens. I am 100% with you on the bars. They use to be social clubs. Now they are drink 'till you hit the floor and hurry up others are waiting. Depending on where you live try to find a gay senior group. Beyond that, like me, its memories, dad thumb and his four sons.
